Virginia has Taylor ham...lot of ham 'round these parts. Made sense to just put crabs twice, they beat out the hams easily. And DC has to have the half-smoke/dirty water dog. That's actually all DC really has for regional specialties.

I'm feeling pretty old these days, I just don't have it in me anymore to coddle or try to reach out to folks like that. There's no excuses for supporting any of that. I don't need any new friends really, especially at work. Those types can fuck off and kick rocks. Life's too short.

Technically but where I am we claim the District-Maryland-Virginia area. ...And we don't have much in the way of regional food hits. Could have done ham salad but it's gross.

I knew their leanings & dealt with it because they are friendly & approachable but I've grown increasingly dismissive. I already regularly wear anti-Trump shirts to work & wear a pride pin daily, though such displays are now verboten. No room in my life, or office, for willful ignorance.

Yeah the UC-fanfic feeling bugs me. I love UC but hate Newtype magic so it's doubly annoying. I kind of liked the initial premise. A whole cast sidelined to make room for the old standards. Plus I'm tired of multiverse shenanigans.

*spoilers* And then my kid said, enthusiastically: "Shuuji is the Grandaddy!" Then I got sad. Because she might be right.
