Mine has insisted that I'm almost out of toner since the day after I unpacked it and installed new toner. I'm sure it's just pure coincidence they have a toner subscription.
Even if it prints weird, all I have to do is take it out and shake it, those things are supposed to last for years.

Really had some Moments reflecting my own school memories (life spoilers: I fucking hated school starting in 4th grade). Universal ND experience, I suppose.

Considering I just read Time War today and the characters Literally Have Names That Are In The Signatures Of The Letters So You Can't Even Miss Them, I feel especially called out
on the plus side, "this sucked as much as Time War" is a great rec for Piranesi (It's on the list)

I don't notice a smell but I'm so congested that idk. I guess if there was mold I would have noticed that smell.
I scrubbed them with vinegar and dish soap, but there's a tray to catch excess water that seems like it should pop off but doesn't, so who knows what's in there.
They're probably fine.

Cassie had an eating disorder as a teen. She recovered, but she's particular about nutrition. She notices when Arien gets malnourished because his meal replacements are woefully insufficient.
The vegetable soup she makes him to dump nutrients into his system becomes his favorite meal.

Growing up he was forced to eat things with textures or flavors he couldn't stand, and told he should just stop being picky. As an adult, he chose to avoid the problem entirely.
It's a big deal to him that she actually listens to him and learns what he avoids, and eventually teaches him to cook. 2/

As for changing, Arien isn't open to new things until he meets Cassie, because he's only willing to try them with someone he trusts. Once that trust is built, he'd go anywhere with her, because he knows she won't push him into something he'd really hate.

Brass Roses has a couple sequel scenes inspired by Lindsey Stirling songs. One of the characters builds a violin for another. When his emotions are stolen by the evil Fairy Queen, it's playing music on an instrument built with love that lets him break through the curse. 5/

but the emotions and dynamics behind it had a lot to do with how the story developed.
Sixx:AM has inspired some other scenes or just the mood of events. (Stars, We Will Not Go Quietly) Nothing More and Starset are a couple other big inspirations for characterization. 4/

But Twinsoul as a whole has a lot of stuff inspired wholesale by music. There's also a lot of Dirt Poor Robins vibes (esp Firebird) for the actual story. I've mentioned All At Once was a big one, but so are Enchante and Babylon, and really the whole Firebird album. Not the literal plot, 3/

Arien is a musician so I'm tempted to write out some concert scenes and see if people can guess what song I was thinking of. Like I have a whole mental image of him performing Take Me Back to Eden by Sleep Token. I had described him as a style mashup, but they just do that mashup as their Thing. 2/

If he did, he'd probably enter hyperfocus and get scarily good at it. Might have to modify his leg for it, he didn't build it with that kind of intensity in mind.
He's already very strong because working out is one of his stress coping mechanisms, and he's stressed a lot.

I guess it's unfair to compare most romantasy authors to Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, but that one montage did more than many entire books or even series manage in terms of making a relationship believable.

I recently rewatched Beauty and the Beast. A lot of romantasy feels like people remembered the beginning when he was roaring at her, but not that he actually changed to become worthy of Belle, or that Belle was the one who chose and saved him. There was a whole song about it and everything! 2/

Given the current state of affairs, it also felt important to write something about an ace and autistic character finding love with someone who Gets Them.
The other story I'm writing is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast and my motivation there is that's a fun dynamic, end of thought
