I saw the post and submitted an application without bugging you, which was in fact the 1st round of interviews

If I tried focusing on the code or mods they didn’t want to play along at all. Glad I didn’t die on that hill 😅

minecraft was fun with my kids when I tagged in to what they were doing. We played “creative in survival” mode. I focused on getting materials for them to upgrade our camps, they had to compromise on materials & what they sent me hunting for

math is my hack. I got good enough at math to troubleshoot different lab equipment across engineering fields. Did some LEO satellite network modeling as a consultant a couple of years ago, didn’t even have to break out any diff eq. I can absolutely wrangle whatever js frameworks are in use 🙄

I feel like orgs are chasing the hope that they can get away with doing as little technical onboarding & training if they hire specialists. IME I can catch or leapfrog incumbent specialists in about a month, which is about how long most specialists need to adapt to shop conventions anyway

on a tangentially related note, I pushed this to gh this week and asked cursor to update my personal site using it as a reference. I pushed what it did to prod so I guess I don’t hate it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the testers I talked to while in Austin last month preferred xml to markdown since tags can hold more metadata. I think it makes sense for data, but most data platform stuff is moving to parquet files. Odd to me the article didn’t mention either 🤔

they know digital twins are shoddy imposters for prod at best? You can’t be in neck deep while standing on dry land. Any clever attempt to do so will only play yourself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

christianity is more about the rising from the dead part given literally everyone is born at some point, prophesied or not (duh)

I like the notion of “lower the floors & raise the ceilings”. A session can still be fun if some but not all of it makes sense to everyone participating. Some will let the confusing parts go, others will research on their own, & a few will follow up with questions given the opportunity.

they were probably coming from a data science background, many such cases. I wish there were a cleaner way to tag intro, intermediate, & advanced content. IME folks cram in the advanced track & complain it doesn’t make sense. We need more intermediate content tbh

meh I don’t mind options. It’s been years since I put a board together & I won’t order one. If there’s one around I typically snack on whatever is getting left behind

a cheese board typically has a soft, a hard, & a bleu cheese. I like walnuts, cashews or pecans w/ some fruit as a palate cleanser between cheeses. I like the hams, I wish terrine was more popular. Easy cheese on ritz crackers is also good
