This work is on-going for many species & especially critical for T&E species.
It is depressing when these resistant individuals are lost to other disturbances, like fire or other effects of climate change. This is why it is so important to ramp up seed collection and gene conservation projects.

That is some high-tech tree banding! We only ever used some metal ribbon, a spring, and some tin snips to cut a measurement “viewing window”.
