What is the internet for if not for making absurdly niche jokes that somehow find the one person who will get it?

Big Judge Doom energy going on here lol

Yeah, I guess the power of internet distribution is such these days that an immature technology can seem mainstream—or at least what used to be mainstream adoption numbers.

I think LLMs are amazing, I’m just also frustrated at the level of grifting they attract, with people trying to stick them in places they absolutely don’t belong (yet), like tasks that require devs with 20 YOE.

I mean if we’re seriously asking, it’s probably because the President can unilaterally impose tariffs and corporate tax change must go through congress. I’m guessing the whole tariff thing is a test how the whole unitary executive thing might work.

Parenthood def changed how I gifted too. My go-to is glass bottles + automatic bottle warmer + automatic bottle sanitizer/dryer…the stuff that worked for me after lots of iteration. Anything to automate when brain is at its least functional!

The rode wireless ecosystem is getting nice, too. Have the lavs, but also hand mics, and their mixers have wireless receivers now, so you can build up a very flexible ecosystem for mobile and desktop recording.

Co-sign Rode Wireless lavs. The pro set is really nice. Another option that’s a bit bulkier but more flexible would be a Zoom H5 (or similar) with a shotgun capsule, which would let you add XLR mics for when you want to scale up to a group on-location.

No, I don’t think that’s an option for the wok and personally not the type that goes for engravings.

Thank you—I agree! They live up to the heirloom moniker, though beauty is pain…they’re a bit tough to maintain for an “unseasoned” (heh) cook like myself vs other pans with thick seasoning built up from the factory, but it’s been a fun learning and aesthetic experience!

It is! A splurge for sure.

They even had a whole movie centered around San Francisco lol

In fairness, one of those is probably what got us into this mess 😅

Yeah, gorm isn’t very good. Some unexpected behaviors caused some awful heisenbugs in the ML training pipeline of a company I used to work at. They moved to sqlc and got much better results in terms of perf and reliability. sqlc.dev

What worked for me was having different kinds of work that exercised different parts of my brain, so that when I was out of attention for one kind of task, I could work on another. I was able to do two full degrees while working full time in 4.5 years b/c each was very different brain work.

This was the guide/video that inspired the purchase. I didn’t really know that pressing down on food was how you got the crispy skin I love so much. Chris used a pan, but I wasn’t willing to get (the bottom of!) a whole second pan dirty 😅 combustion.inc/blogs/guides...

The actual weights are nice—heavier than expected, and I like that they don’t take up much room in my tiny apartment/kitchen. While the weights themselves are very flat and nicely machined, and the handles nestle into each other, the bases float a bit above each other…admittedly, very slight nit.

Yeah dude, I was like “WAIT THERE ARE NO MORE EPISODES” but at the same time, I love the show for being willing to do shit like that. The whole thing is the tension of mystery and discovery, oozing with style, and the ending was 1000% that in one moment.

Oh dude you have no idea lmao

I’ve actually been wanting to do stuff like this, but will probably be a few months before I have brain bandwidth to learn all the stuff and understand the implications.

I was gonna make a mango lassi, but I waited too long and the mangoes went bad. Instead, have a “mango lassie!”

Sorry, guessing you’re right, but I don’t know what you’re referring to. I was just commenting on the similarity and dark twist to the PPAP song pattern.

You should do that because it’s good communication and UX, but it’s also good you have that reaction because it says you’re not a narcissist and not into easily manipulating others.
