The fact we pay for it means we get that, whether others say we don't or not. That standard means, or likely means, our news isn't like what you see in the states which is closer to entertainment than genuine journalism (even if opinions do exist within).

I know you're not talking about why we should have the licence fee or not, but thought I'd throw this in as many don't want to pay it, it seems.
I used to think why pay it, just get ads etc. But I think paying for something as a nation, we own it, have a say in it, and deserve quality.
