Molecatchers used to hang them from wire fences to show the farmers how many they had caught. You don't see that anymore because of health and safety gone mad.

Yeah I think people overrate "propaganda can make dumb people believe anything" and underrate "propaganda can provide the basis for smart-ish people to rationalize their way into anything"

He grew up in Penwortham near Preston and originally worked at the Leyland branch but moved to London to work in Exports around 62-65 I think - then moved back north to open a shop. The archive sounds interesting.
