Will the Republican ticket scream "DEI"?

I take it you don't yet have an guesstimate on the General election outcome?

I joined the military in 2002 while the Bush administration was making the case for war in Iraq. I was only 18 and I knew what was happening. Its amazing that we are literally repeating history from nearly a quarter of a century ago.

I joined the military in 2002. I remember even as an1 18 year old sailor out of boot camp what the Bush administration was doing. Nearly a quarter of century later, we still have folks who say "no war" as unpatriotic. America hasn't learned a lesson from Iraq and Afghanistan.

When he says one day that there will be no US involvement and is considering the opposite the next, you no that the leadership Americans elected are not doing what’s in their best interests.

I had just joined the military in 2002 when that discussion was happening. It’s always difficult to know if lessons have been learned or if history is or not repeating itself.

Definite no.

Trump wants it passed by July 4. Is that realistically possible?

He won’t be on the ballot in ‘26 or ‘28. He’s a senile old man.

The G7 might as well be the G6, plus one from time to time.

As an American please don’t lose faith in our country. We’re tragically divided but we have good people here and the American people will not stand for a government they see as too tyrannical. Again please keep the faith in us. Thank you.

This will only cause more widespread civil unrest across the country. This guy is literally tearing America apart, piece by piece. Very depressing and sad for my country that I served in uniform for 20+ years.

Trump the dictator wannabe.

I had to contact my member of Congress who is on the Armed Services Committee. I told his aide who answered that what Trump and Hegeseth did was damaging to the public’s trust in our military. I’m a veteran and I don’t want to have our military getting caught up in our political divisions.

I would know for sure that I'd be using as a political prop for the commander in chief's ego. I would use any excuse to get out of it, but if my superior told to go, I'd have no choice, though I would not be at all happy with it.

Trump is sadly eroding that public trust with the military, but as you stated, there are a lot of good patriots who are serving and have served before, myself included. If I was told that I had to take part in a military parade for the commander in chief's birthday, I'd be pissed.

Probably not, but they're residents in her district and they have a right to speak out.

Still make your voice heard. You're a constituent of her district, even you don't support her. She has an obligation to hear from constituents.

I would still contact her. My congressman is also MAGA. I'll be calling his DC office. His aide who answers the phone is willing to hear me out.

I emailed my congressman, who sits on the House Armed Services Committee. I told him that what Trump and Hegeseth did today was inappropriate, unprofessional, and risks eroding public trust in our military and demanded that the committee summon him to Congress.
comment in response to

Most of the protests happening across the country are non violent. The media and Trump administration want to paint an opposite picture because good headlines and viewership.

Mikie Sherrill is a former Navy pilot. I'm sure she will win, hopefully by a bigger than expected amount this year compared to 2021.

And driving down their public trust and approval by the minute.
Trump has created America’s greatest civil-military relations crisis since the Civil War.
And it’s just getting started.🚨
📺I’ll join CNN & Abby Phillip at 10ET with more on this, LA & whatever madness happens in the next two hours.

And it’s not a one off. It’s a strategy.
And one we’ll see in full and dangerous display this weekend at his military birthday parade for himself.
Trump wants the world to think our great military is HIS military.
And wants to coerce and manipulate troops into making them think it is too.

No mention on that Trump made this visit as a campaign event?

He's the Commander in Chief for christ's sake. He gave a bluntly partisan speech in front of soldiers at a military installation, an institution that has long prided itself in being apolitical. He's at the pinnacle of power and he has to stoop so low that politicizes our military?
comment in response to

I emailed my Congressman who is on the House Armed Services Committe, demanding the SecDef be summoned to hill explaining himself why and the president decided to make a campaign event at a military installation.

Coming from the Commander in Chief who just politicized our military, I'm not expecting much worse or better.
comment in response to

I'm a vet. I'm so stunned and angry. Administrations before have politicized the military to a degree, but what Trump and Hegseth are doing in front uniformed rank and file is beyond anything other administrations have done. This, on top his parade and deploying troops to LA speaks for itself.
comment in response to

That's been true for a long time. Our military has long been an apolitical institution with overwhelming support from American public of all political stripes. Sadly, Trump has just eroded that trust. I say this as a veteran.
comment in response to

They're publicizing our whole military now.
comment in response to

It is bad. Using military rank and file as political props, having them remark in an obvious political address to a non partisan institution. That erodes the trust the public has in our military. I'm saying this as a veteran.
