Comment score of 0 💀 it's so painfully accurate

The nearly consensus opinion of young people these days is that any form of porn is genuinely sinful, it's like we're living in 25 AD

None of those people actually give enough of a shit to vote anyway, so I'm unfortunately convinced that Mamdani gets hammered and Cuomo wins in two rounds

Most of them are also able and employed, so they don't give a fuck about Trump's annihilation of all our social programs and scientific funding because it's not like it helps *them* directly

I've accepted that these people are secret Republicans deep down anyway, it's not like we should even bother arguing with them anymore - they never have been and never will be the future of the left

I'm willing to bet that game consoles alone use more than that amount of power per household, but there's no moral panic about them lol

Looking at the stats I can find, the global residential power drain is 89 times what the global AI power drain is (0.3% of all electricity usage), and I don't think we're exactly at our most efficient residential usage yet

She also wouldn't have sacrificed every disabled person in the U.S. and likely the world, but our left movement doesn't give two fucks about that

True I suppose, there's millions of cranks and online leftists but none of them ever show up to the polls
comment in response to

I will posit that those random cranks seemed to genuinely represent the majority opinions of the American left, and it matters that all those people are the ones who get to decide the elections of left politicians

At this point it's obvious that they were fascists the whole time and were just too embarrassed to be openly right-wing

Cuomo is a rapist Trump toadie who's going to destroy the city like a Republican vs. No he isn't (Italian stallion 🩷)

I looked on the AskNYC Reddit board yesterday to see why people were voting for Cuomo, and it was basically "well he had these really nice fireside chats during Covid 🥺 how could I possibly survive three months without mimosas unless I had Daddy Cuomo? Also you're mean for saying he's a rapist"

Yes, except there'll never be a scandal. There still hasn't been over the DNR notices applied to autistic people without consent in 2020. Nobody really gives a shit about disabled people.

there might genuinely be an etiology of Rowling Syndrome just sitting in this data, holy shit

I think this site is still a lot better than Twitter for nuance, at least from what I've seen - the old site was full of either unironic Democratic stans who would harrass you into deleting your account for not loving Andre Cuomo or whatever, or annoying auth-left types who secretly love Republicans

Exactly, I like that the series' concepts are able to be fluid and reused freely over time - like, OOT was a Zelda 1 prequel and that's cool, but it had room to breathe and be its own thing because it didn't devote itself to some bloated overly-factual canon, and went for the evocative route instead

Not to mention that this stuff usually comes from weird people who imagine themselves as Vladimir Lenin, but can't bring themselves to be half as politically active (or useful) as a liberal grandma holding a sign at Walmart

ANH being like Ed Wood is why it's my favorite - Star Wars sets itself apart from other sci-fi and thrives on that glamourless grit, and it's such a brilliantly thrilling love letter to B-movie action flicks (not to mention the hundred other genres swirled in there seamlessly)

To be fair, pop hasn't had as much of a singular dominant chordal structure since the Beatles

So much of the paranoid anti-AI movement built itself through memes - that method could definitely be co-opted for other means

Neural network tech as a whole is hard to be definitive on right now - it has revolutionary applications in virtually every industry and endeavor, and similarly, a lot of that can be stuffed in the back and labeled as a normal feature (which easily runs locally on not-so-distant hardware)

Right? Life is so much more vibrant when you just pay attention, there's so much going on everywhere all the time and it's like a constant story being told
comment in response to

Unbelievably relatable, I don't know how so many people just pay no attention to all the little details around them - I can tell you the history of changes in everything around me

It's not just centrists who are annoyed that you'll never feel sorry for staying home and watching Netflix instead of voting and saving millions of lives from Trump

Estate sales are your friend for any TV finds - plasma might be cool, but don't lose hope on finding an awesome if slightly smaller CRT too
I found an older Wega that still supported 720p on the curb a few months ago, and it was like 50 pounds or less - have faith, and good shall come your way 🙏

I still have mine of this exact model hooked up, it's a beauty but it's hard as hell finding a good cabinet to hold it up - that shit needs professional movers as well

No you're completely right - there's a horrifyingly large majority of the American public + ruling class who genuinely believe that they were placed on this world to be the important ones who got to watch all the nonbelievers get vaporized

Go to estate sales, you can find no shortage of old people with 5 nice CRTs in their house selling them for $10 or less

It's so fucking cool how it works, but people don't want to see that - like, my phone has a 3 GB chunk of random black box data on it, which can fairly accurately recreate an enormous amount of human knowledge and history when asked, not to mention discuss and analyze it

I see it as an ideal that we probably can't reach, but it's a philosophy that we should still implement wherever and however possible on all levels

I'm an anarchist in that I refuse to accept social hierarchies and classes, they shouldn't exist and shouldn't be participated in whatsoever - but I do agree that the broader movement has no good plan and doesn't like to grapple with that
comment in response to
post
My interpretation of anarchism specifically centers around destroying the cultural ideas we presently have about status and pecking orders of all kinds - everyone needs to understand how lame and fake and useless they all are to us, and recognizing them where they exist so they can be fought against

Exactly! I definitely don't think it's some perfect solution either (certainly not at the moment, and not for any super critical or secure application), but it's silly to get upset about something that's currently helping to reduce busy work and allow engineers to focus more on harder aspects
comment in response to
post
That's exactly why it's outrage bait - many professionals who know exactly what they're doing have been using it for years now, but let's just strawman and imagine a fictional bad programmer to get angry at
(who would get fired in days in the real world anyway, it's irrelevant)
comment in response to

Hilariously reductive, you could just talk to anyone who's skilled at their job and responsible with this tech instead of being like "oh no, these engineers that I'm much more clever than will reinvent the big evil crypto by accident! That's definitely possible and worth thinking about"
