You're right. The colours looked 1970s maybe. It was so unexpected though. That man had a fabulous voice.

Phil Hall is stunning!

Perhaps. I now live in Essex and there are plenty here willing to denigrate their local towns. I think they hanker after a mythical past. Ps, I love Liverpool.

I recently saw a video of Telly Savalas no less extolling the virtues of Birmingham. Everywhere has something worth seeing.

I notice that he'd got lots to say but offered no solutions.

Clearly this 'journalist' doesn't listen to R4 where I first heard your comedy...and am still listening on R4extra. My favourite was Citizenship Test.

Worrying. 😒. I hope she's OK.

I lived there from 1987 to 1993. They were overjoyed in 1989 with the fall of the USSR; 1956 was ugly. They were also desperate to join the EU. My heart grieves for what Orban is doing.

I love Jon Stewart.

Is this the guy who made racist comments about footballers? Bell!

I love that play for it's message and structure. It was a joy to watch and teach. How I wish I could have seen PSH .

The explanation for the sentence is widely available on this thread... and it's an easy read.

Thank you Adam. This clarified a lot. Always worth having the facts of the case.

He may look funny but he's a ghoul!

So sad that this is what has filled the space rather than the fate of the poor people injured. I feel that we are going backwards as a society.

I had heard the name and was under the impression that he was an academic. I had no idea that this was him in this video. I've taught 11 yr old to argue better than this. 🙄

It's charming. And what a beautiful voice.

To Max with love from Rob. ❤️

I'm definitely one of them. Happy for it to go to those who need it. I spent the equivalent of 25% of it to see John Lithgow in Giant. Not boasting; explaining.

Ps, watched on YouTube. Jeez!!

I thank you for your sacrifice. 😅. Might it be on YouTube later?

I wish I could see that buy I can't bear to tune in. I value my blood pressure and good mental health. 😅

Gosh! If only actual journalists would push back like this. Yes, I'm talking to you Mason, Kuensburg, Rigby et al.

People should be challenged on their use of empty rhetorical abstracts. It's very frustrating when 'betrayal' and 'surrender' slide through unchallenged. Grr.

Check out Michel Thomas on YouTube. It's a very different way of learning a language. I've used it for French and Italian. Duolingo drove me crazy!!

Lost my streak today. 😒. But got all four in quordle. Come on brain!

It's sad that he felt like that as he brought so much laughter to the world. I still listen to him on R4 extra.

You can find Susie Dent on Bluesky and follow her. She's all about words and is very funny and knowledgeable.

Susis Dent's word of the day is 'beek', 13th century. To bask in the rays of the sun.

I have 3 words for those who scoff at Health and Safety: Bradford, Aberfan and Zeebruge. All horrifying and avoidable and we shouldn't forget that. Rest in Peace.

Here in UK we have a brilliant BBC radio programme called The Life Scientific. This week's interviewee was Dr. Fauci. What an amazing man.

I'm not sure how often I need to say this: I didn't need it and neither did those other 'pensioners' with whom I socialise (bars, restaurants, holidays). I'm happy for it to go to those who need it, including young families. I hate my age being weaponised for political reasons!! Grrrr!

This is appalling!!

I remember reading that Putin favoured leave and this, among other reasons, was why I voted Remain. I really don't remember where I read it though.

Thank you for this. So good to put things in perspective.

Is thus really the president of the USA? Genuine question as the style is identical to that used by a British satirist today. Sadly, I'm pretty sure it is real.
