Pope Leo XIV mass in both Spanish & English. abc7chicago.com/watch/live/

A friend of mine went to her 1st ever rally & in her FL coastal town. She told she kept saying that she never knew there were so many who thought like she does. You are not alone!

I went to two rallies today because communities are close & times were staggered. So much violent horn-honking made my watch give a noise alert alarm. 🤣 All ages. All genders. All celebrating giving LOUD voice to democracy. Thrilling.

While rally organizers talk about how to stay safe & call for ppl to remain peaceful yet vigilant, this: Extremist organizations on social media are watching closely as organizers mobilize for “No Kings” rallies Saturday www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

Several things. 1. I'm probably never going back to X because, well, Elon. 2. We have learned to be less civil & actual conversation, even in person, is increasingly difficult. 3. It's hard to be civil when our feeds are filled with lies, misrepresentations, outrage & outraged ppl. ⬇️

Quite frankly, this doesn't surprise me. There is a lot of pressure put on the 4-day school week & often for the wrong reasons. Absenteeism can increase bc parents struggle to get their kids to school for a longer school day &/or have no child care for the "off" day. If stamina is already an 1/

Today must be math day somehow. When Ss begin to understand the relationship between numbers as well as the fundamentals of addition & subtraction, they may struggle less later. www.edweek.org/teaching-lea...

I just mentioned Data Science 4 Everyone in my last Mental Peregrinations post (bit.ly/MP06102025). And here are math people addressing what needs to be changed in math curricula. #k12 #math #teaching #learning #education www.edweek.org/teaching-lea...

District & school leaders, as you're thinking about how to launch your 2025-2026 school year, think about reaching out to these folks: @mssackstein.bsky.social, @kevinhoneycutt.bsky.social, @shannonmmiller.bsky.social, @coolcatteacher.bsky.social. All great with different skills. #education

Yep, gotta love government efficiency. www.cnn.com/2025/06/09/p...

Next Saturday there will be at least 1,800 protests, on the same day as Trump’s authoritarian military parade. Millions are expected to attend. Trump’s trying to scare everyone into staying home, but he won’t be able to stop these peaceful protests. More here:

Still thinking about why and how we educate our students at all levels. Spoiler alert: There are no easy answers. #education #k12 #highereducation ejroberts.substack.com/p/examining-...

We've all seen so many articles about chronic absenteeism. When leaders ask families why their kids aren't in school, it's more possible to find solutions. ". . .be very wary of the unverified assumptions about what's going on with our families." Engagement & review can lead to policy changes ⬇️

The article may be subscriber-only so my fave fun stats: 66% of people around the world use AI regularly; 78% of orgs use AI; 46% of us trust AI; 35% of parents discuss AI with kids. It's the energy/environmental footprint we don't think about. The equivalent of power usage in the UK ⬇️

I think it was Orson Scott Card's book Ender's Game & following that I first learned about hegemony. Many of the books clanged then & have not aged at all well. Even so, I noted the "coercion and consent" elements. Some interesting insights here. theconversation.com/are-hegemoni...

#AI as a thought partner for educators: absolutely. Key points when using AI at any grade level, including college: "Brisk knows how to structure a lesson, but neither Brisk nor ChatGPT nor Gemini knows my class the way I know my class. . .

Another fave podcast is #CautionaryTales. In this episode, Steve Levitt, co-author of @freakonomics.bsky.social, joins Tim Harford with some insightful, sometimes funny observations. His research on organ donation is shocking. timharford.com/2025/04/caut...

We’re watching transparency erode as law enforcement begins to resemble secret police more than public servants. This piece unpacks how we got here, and why it should alarm us all.
