Listening to my body means eating a second round of lunch because my hunger cues are there for a reason. I didn't sleep well, and didn't eat a good breakfast, so my body needs more fuel. Glad I brought extra to the office!

Sitting in an office just makes me want to branch out into other avenues of income more than anything. My passion and dream is to no longer NEED to work a conventional job... and I'm taking steps to try and make that dream a reality.

We've recently been through years of this exact messaging around COVID, which has a similar threat profile in terms of mortality and disability. Messaging that came straight from public health authorities and medical experts, who clearly did not think of the consequences of this messaging.

I'm already two chapters in, and I'm engaged! The choice to write this specific novel in third person limited instead of first person (like all of the other novels in the Hunger Games universe so far) can't have been an accidental choice. The innate 'othering' of Coriolanus Snow is striking #booksky

Starting The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes today... here's what I've selected for my next 4 books. Anyone got a strong opinion on which order I should read them in? ๐Ÿ“š #booksky #reading #booklover

Despite trying to start them inside of 3 separate occasions this spring... these basils would only actually sprout in the dirt outside. I'm not complaining, but I'm a little salty! #gardening #stubbornplants

Spending the afternoon with my bestie then watching her toddler while she goes to see one of her fave bands in concert. Love transcends romance, and turns friends into chosen family, if you'll let it

The future seems (and is) incredibly bleak, and right now the only thing that's keeping my head above water is focusing on the small things within my control. My garden, my writing, my reading, my home care. Small acts of autonomy in a world full of absolute power corrupting absolutely

Growth shouldn't be exponential - it should be organic, flowing, and beautiful. Like a cucumber vine up a trellis, or like the slow build of a hand-crocheted blanket. Grow at your speed, relish the process, and fuel your soul.

This morning's garden bounty ๐ŸŒฑโค๏ธ

My next read? The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes - I need to read it. Sunrise On The Reaping reignited my love of the Hunger Games universe, and I'm hungry for more #reading #booksky

Finished another book yesterday, the second book in an indie series - Brothers in Arms by Caroline Frechette. The first one was pretty meh, but the second one had me gripped and engaged the whole way through. Two more in that series, and I wanna read them this year! #booksky

My joy is in the small things. The slow and intentional. The not getting swept up in the hype. The pencil crayons and my grandmother's knitting needles. Walking through the garden and combing through for weeds, and inspecting the leaves for pests, and new growth. A loving, intentional life

Y'all๐Ÿ‘€ my garden is thriving. I just had to add a layer to my French weave trellis for my tomato patch, and the pea pods are growing!! So exciting #gardensky #gardening #selfsufficiency

A reminder that you can watch the sunrise over Stonehenge for the summer solstice, live on the @englishheritage YouTube channel. It goes live at 4am on 21st June UK time. Enjoy! Xx www.youtube.com/live/YzWjZOC...

๐Ÿ“–Devoured Sunrise on the Reaping in a single day at the end of May... and can I just say: WOW! ๐Ÿ’ฅStunning, terrifying, relevant... an excellent story about propaganda, power, and the effects of narrative control. 100% recommendation to be read for anyone who wants to increase media literacy #booksky

Back to planning my future so I can get where I want to be - time to really think on what brings me joy, what fills my passion, and what empowers me in my life. I love creating, crafting, I love putting things into the world.

My anecdotal experience is that the people with the weakest reasoning skills are the most likely to lean on ai, which of course magnifies the problem.

Days where everything is just too much keep coming, harder and faster. Finding the balance between staying aware and informed... and total mental breakdown? Getting harder and harder to find. History isn't supposed to repeat that quickly... how quickly we as a collective forget our recent past

Picking up slow hobbies has had a net positive effect on my life. What is your favourite slow hobby? #reading #crochet #crossstitch #crafting #yarncraft #creating #gardening

i think the basic crisis of the 21st century is that technology has vastly empowered the capacity to bullshit without any comparable increase in the capacity to counter bullshit. truth is a knight in plate armor getting riddled to death with a machine gun

I just started book 2 of the Brothers in Arms indie publishing series by Caroline Frechette, and so far her writing has really improved in this one. The larger font is also very appreciated. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story evolves and grows #booksky

What are you reading right now, and why?

Almost done reading the second Percy Jackson novel (for the first time... yes I'm behind) and I just absolutely love the YA genre as a whole.

I read Sunrise on the Reaping a couple weeks ago and I might read it again. It's an excellent depiction of how propaganda and specific targeted attacks can very effectively quell protest and uprising if used against the right person. If you haven't, I recommend reading it with a critical eye on msm

not sure how, but a lot of my Following feed is American news - can I get some recs for a) some Canadian news, b) some world news, and/or c) some feel good/creative content about books, yarn crafts, baking, home care, love, romance, queer shit, or other positive content? I need a bit more variety

The opposite of war isn't peace, it's creation. That line from my favourite musical always strikes me as incredibly powerful. Create, build, connect, love.

I read an old book that was originally written as nonfiction which has apparently turned out to be fiction. it was... a lot. between the dates psychology/terminology and the detailing of psychological trauma. onto lighter and fluffier things. a literary palate cleanser, if you will. #booksky

free books on abolishing borders

Today started off on the wrong foot and I feel like I'm just trying to play catch up.. anyone got some good pointers on how to reclaim the day when you're stuck in an office and don't have any ear buds?

Tomatoes and peppers planted out in the #garden. Seeded carrots, oregano, greens, and basil. Spattered with a couple of nasturium and marigolds, hopefully most of the plants survive. Next up: Re/up-potting the rest of the seedlings to be more stable and have enough room to be comfortable and grow.

If there was one single thing that would help you get your main challenge in order, what would it be?

It's the little steps that build you forward - I have my very first #bookkeeping client! It's a babystep towards following something that I'm very passionate about -> Helping people set their finances up for success, and helping offload the administrative burden of budgeting and expense tracking.

A year ago, my biweekly pay had wiggle room for ~100$ every 2 weeks of "extra" - some would go towards specific savings goals, some would go towards dates, etc. Now, my fixed expenses (which are pretty much as low as they can go) take up 80% of each paycheque. It's a bit frustrating to feel stuck

MAKE NOISE ON THIS ONEโ€ผ๏ธ They didnโ€™t just deport himโ€”they sent him to CECOT in El Salvador. Agelviz came here legally through the refugee resettlement programโ€”fully vetted. But when he landed in Houston, CBP snatched him over a tattoo: a clock and a rose. No charges. No record. Just a suspicion.

Inflation is eating up my budget, but I'm persistently staying afloat. I may have less spending money, but my savings and investments are growing, and for now that's good enough. Budgeting and prioritizing my finances is something I'm blessedly gifted with, and I'm always happy to share my knowledge

Figuring out how best to pursue your goals as a burnt out former gifted kid has been an adventure. I'm building skills and also reinforcing my own needs for rest and recovery. How do you build recovery time into your life?

Keeping up on tracking expenses can be frustrating if you don't have a routine.. I've buult mine brick by brick over the years, and been lucky enough to help people along the way ๐Ÿซถ

Strongly considering shifting my music streaming from Spotify to #TIDAL... I have a full family plan currently, so I would very much appreciate any feedback anyone has on how TIDAL's phone app is, offline functioning, etc. I know their sound quality is better, but I use mobile A LOT <3 thx!

Ditch Audible, friends. Amazon doesn't need more money. Use Libby (supports public libraries) or Libro FM (supports indie bookstores) instead.

Read "Evarde's Legacy" - an indie published novel that I bought at ComicCon a few (read: almost 9) years ago. Finishing it means that I've now read 11 books so far this year, which is 1 more than I read in all of 2024, so I'm pretty proud of that! How was it? It was... okay. Solidly okay. 3 stars.
