Rubio on CBS: "This wasn't a regime change move." Vance on ABC: "Well, first of all, we don't want to achieve regime change." Vance on NBC: "our view has been very clear that we don't want a regime change." Trump, not waiting even 24 hours to undercut and humiliate them:

I’ve made the case that presidents don’t need congressional approval for certain kinds of Article II military actions. I don’t think Trump can make that case here, but Johnson arguing that the threat was so imminent that Congress literally had no time to vote is just silly.

#ProudBlue Yeah, I’ll pass!

He just dropped $280,000,000 worth of artillery in a war that’s not ours, but our grandparents have to live on Ramen noodles because America can’t afford Meals on Wheels anymore. Make it make sense.

Excellent

Its time all cities and states do this. Masked and armed? No ID or official documents (or specific warrants)? Arrest and Jail and impound their vehicles... The arrest record should provide their ID for the public as well...

NEW: The DHS has issued a heightened terror threat for Americans. Good thing we have that 22 year old former gardener in charge of counterterrorism and DHS is busy with mass deportation. www.dhs.gov/ntas/advisor...

Trump’s attacks on Iran were based on vibes, not new intel, two administration officials tell Rolling Stone. “There is no intel,” one of the sources says. “The intelligence assessments have not really changed.” www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

I'm glad Menendez was forced out & now faces the legal consequences of his corruption & treason. But I don't understand a system in which this happens, while the Republican President of the United States commits the same crimes, on a level orders of magnitude worse, & faces no consequences at all.

🚨 JUST IN: The U.S. is now begging China to stop Iran from closing the Strait of Hormuz, a desperate attempt to keep global oil flowing, per CNBC.

@muellershewrote.com, isn't this SHOCKING! I mean who could've predicted this? (Allison did last night talking to me on The Left Hook) www.politico.eu/article/iran...

In case you missed this earlier this week, it's points are more salient today than ever...

🦋 The Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002, passed by both House & Senate, granted President G W Bush the authority to use military force against Iraq. The resolution was passed before the 2003 invasion. The US strikes on Iran are illegal & Congress must act. 🦋

Trump found a general who would give him the advice he shouldn't have.

In other words, Trump went to his golf club after deploying the military to bomb Iran

I sat in a meeting of Republican lawmakers and senior policy advisors after the 2016 election who uniformly agreed that, while they didn't like the terms of Obama's Iran deal, the U.S. was better staying in than cancelling it. This included some VERY hawkish voices on Iran.

🚨MAJOR BREAKING: Just HOURS after Putin slammed the U.S. for bombing Iran, the Iranian Foreign Minister is now heading to Moscow for an emergency meeting. Trump didn’t just start a war - he may have united two of America’s greatest enemies. This is a global nightmare.

Tally is up to $133 million to play golf

We were very happy to give this scoop to @marisakabas.bsky.social's The Handbasket because it is important to support independent journalists who are doing the hard work at this time. Giving this story to Marisa also guarantees it will be in The Washington Post verbatim exactly 48 hours later.

The last time the US used “instincts” as a basis for war:

It’s 2002 all over again.

Seems important.

“.. Washington understands the inevitability of Tehran's response. All this brings the spiral of confrontation to a new level and increases the risks of World War III.” @reuters.com www.reuters.com/world/middle...

And these are the same snowflakes who couldn’t handle wearing a mask during the pandemic.

So Trump intentionally didn’t tell top congressional Democrats, especially those on Intel, before the strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. But he made sure to let congressional Republicans know beforehand.

The enriched uranium was not present at the sites that were hit. That had been moved.

ABC’s Jay O’Brien is reporting that republicans in Congress were briefed ahead of the strikes, but that democrats were not briefed until after the attack was underway.

And this right here!!! ⬇️

The next time this Congress stands up to Trump, will be the first time they've done so. We are in totally uncharted territory here. One guy whose elevator hasn't gone to his top floor in years just committed us to a major war in the Middle East without so much as a "by your leave" from Congress.
