The sad reality is that it doesn't matter what is written in a constitution or law if people do not believe in it, and no one challenges them if they ignore it.

I said it before, I say it again: I am panfranchixual.

Failed? FAILED??? Westworld was the biggest box office hit MGM had that year. It might have even saved the studio.

...beside each other, let's offer our students and ourselves a treat and do raw milk and raw milk cheese in the cafeteria we have right here. Yeah. Lasted about a year. They had to shut down for a couple of months when the outbreak really hit. When you can't even control it under lab conditions...

There was a university in Germany with a big agricultural department. Really posh, lab and learning building right beside the pastures, the stable, and a model dairy plant, staffed by professional scientists with medical and biological training who KNEW. They thought, hey, everything's right....

I'm telling you, the patterns on the display surfaces on DS9 were copied from the "Take on Me" video.

That's the USS Voyager with a Vulcan hand greeting on the right, no?

I don't like wine (too much histamine, makes my nose stuffy), but I'm in for the rest.

I do think it's a different medium than books. It still counts as reading, however. If it is being read by a capable human. So far, there's no AI-trained bot that can. (The bot is not intelligent currently. It is programmed using processes similar to intelligence. That doesn't make it intelligent.)

Oh, yes, you're right!

Too many to mention/remember... Shoutout to only one: Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells (For those who know: This series is to me what "Sanctuary Moon" is to Murderbot.)

I once had something similar. Tried all kinds of watchbands and materials, and EVERYTHING caused it. On both wrists. Lasted for over two years before I could wear a watch for a day or so. Switched mostly to a pocket watch at the time, and liked that a lot more... Good luck to you!

I will never understand the hypocritical valuation and categorization of psychoactive substances... That said, I don't believe it's the drugs that make Eloon weird.

On original broadcast, it would have been hidden by the TV overscan.

Oh, Thank you so very much! That was beautiful! I have seen some other stuff they performed -- which was always very good -- but not this. (Check out their version of Gremlins 2 End Credits. Seldom have I seen an orchestra having more fun!)

"Looks" is the operative word here, though.

But that's not (only) because of the pressure...

(I admit that I am a physicist and teacher, and create a lot of PDFs by myself using LaTeX, so I may have a skewed view on the issue...)

I have the best experiences with Readdle pdfExpert (formerly Ukrainian based, so they might have had some support issues recently, but I saw that they have moved things to Ireland). It's not free, though. Then again, that is on Mac... I think the shitty software here may be Windows...
comment in response to post
...it's not? I mean, pretty much every other format for text has a lot more problems for LEGAL purposes. Also, I found that whenever people complain about PDF it's not the format, but the shitty reader/editing software they use.

The only thing he (so far) had some problems were US American accents ...
comment in response to post
When it comes to accents, I have to give a shout out to Kobna Holdbrook-Smith for Ben Aaronovitch's Peter Grant series. He really nails (most) of all the accents ... Cockney, Brummie, Scottish, but then also such things as the subtle difference between various Caribbean, east vs. west Africa etc.

My personal favorite audiobook(s) are the Murderbot Diaries read by Kevin R. Free. It was the first time a reading sounded EXACTLY like I had imagined it in my head.
