Amazing experience! Highly recommended!!

📢 The PhD call for "Mind, Brain, and Human Thought" (track: "Experimental Psychology and Psychophysiology") at the IMT School, Lucca is now open! Join us in the Sleep, Plasticity, and Conscious Experience (SPACE) Lab to explore the science of sleep and dreaming. 🧠💤 Apply here 👉 mbht.imtlucca.it

I completely second this. My impression is that we all have crazy stories about this issue. And I think the broader issue is that there’s no respect for people’s quality of life. Not to mention if you diverge a little from the norm and have chronic conditions and traveling is painful by default.

One of the reasons i love tolkien is the theme that despair is an enemy and it makes clear you don’t need to have constant hope, you can get by with grim determination or spite but never despair

1/ Causal Supervenience: Supervenience suggests that higher-level brain functions (and hence causality) are determined by lower-level processes (like neurons or molecules). Highlevel functions aren't reducible to the sum of their parts. They emerge from the complex micro-level

will read later, but seems very good.

I think this will make a lot of sense for many people who have experienced chronic pain conditions.

I'm thrilled that a version of 'Conscious Artificial Intelligence and Biological Naturalism' has just been accepted as a target article in Behavioural & Brain Sciences 😀 An open-call for commentaries is coming soon www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Words are like seas: you must descend deep into the waters to see what lies in the bottom. For those content to gaze there is only beauty and tedium. The truth lies here. How it is accepted is only that: the truth for each man.

🗓️DEADLINE EXTENSION! You have time until May 14th to submit an abstract to the @ispsm.bsky.social online conference: philevents.org/event/show/1... #philsky #philsci #consci #philmind

Tim Bayne said the same thing during CIFAR mentor’s lunch!

My feeling echoes @thomasandrillon.bsky.social but more broadly I think a field like consciousness studies would benefit from a deeper integration with the philosophy of science. Personally, I can’t recommend @niccolonegro.bsky.social ‘s paper on adversarial collaboration enough.

The first results of the Cogitate effort are out in @nature.com Such an interesting paper! Congratulations to all those involved! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

New JC! Mike Jiao presents the Quantum-like Qualia Hypote from @naotsuchiya.bsky.social et al. 2025! This is not a quantum theory of consciousness in the traditional sense, but an hypothesis on how to experimentally measure qualia through the math of QT. 1/4 youtu.be/uzk7naau0fI?...

This year's Mathematical Consciousness Science conference, Models of Consciousness 6 (#MoC6) will take place in Sapporo, Japan. 👉 You're cordially invited to join us! Kudos to this year's main organizer, Robert Prentner! amcs-community.org/events/moc6-... #consci

I love this paper! Check this out!

I believe that this conversation with the authors is particularly helpful for those interested in appreciating the most technical details of the paper and its implications for artificial consciousness. I think many people will find the use of no-go theorems in consciousness science interesting!

We found this paper so interesting that we reached out to its authors @johanneskleiner.bsky.social and Tim Ludwig, and they joined us for a follow up conversation! www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAxr... @qualiastructure.bsky.social @naotsuchiya.bsky.social

Reality is not computation any more than it was the calculus of a mechanical clock centuries ago. Let’s not confuse our technology with what our universe is, it’s a surefire way to close the future by stifling our ability to see beyond the dogmas of our time. longnow.org/ideas/physic...

MESEC is really one of the best experiences if you’re a ECR. I couldn’t recommend this seminar more. Even if I attended an event in 2021 I always carry it in my heart. Please follow their page!

This morning I had 8 things to do. And after a long day at work I now have 10.
