In this wild time I propose we start a new news source called “profits and prophets” where we deliver breaking business news in the form of horoscopes. 🌔🪐 The alignment of the waxing moon and Saturn indicate it’s a good time to find love and invest in pharmaceutical companies ♎️

"Nietzsche warned of gazing too long into the abyss. But he did not warn what happens when the abyss is a Makefile or a 30k line of code Typescript project." notashelf.dev/posts/curse-... I felt this one in my bones.

Despite the large percentage that exist it turns out that CAIO or not the world still loves to extrapolate tiny surveys as representative populations. AI will probably fix this though right? We don’t need statistical significance when we have “ChatGPT told me so”

There’s even the meta cycle of giant media companies spinning up new and interesting animated series and then cancelling them early. Another cycle we are not part of and we’ll never control.

Just passing along some friendly advice on how to approach potential changes to the Australian health care system @drruthmitchell.bsky.social

Quick, someone go endorse bob for "knowing what he's talking about"

I feel like this is one of those "If we just..." moments where people who kind of get technology but really actually don't understand technology think they're just one small change away from solving all their problems and tech debt forever.

MCP has the same hype signature as GraphQL tbh

Another little insight from the world of logistics is that if this gets solved in a hurry with removed tariffs it'll be a massive demand into the US. What this may mean, and it happened in COVID is that ships are diverted to the US making trade elsewhere expensive or impossible.

This really doesn't bode well for the wider logistics market. Any change is going to take weeks to have an impact because these vessels still need to make the trip from China to bring back stock. Freight rates are likely to be chaotic as a result even beyond US bound cargo.

I just wrapped up Act 1 of Expedition 33 and so far it’s been one of the best games I’ve played all year. I feel it might have been a bit overshadowed by Oblivion remaster but you should give it a try. It’s beautiful, fun and challenging. I’ll add more to this as I work through the rest of it.

American businesses that imports the vast majority of products from China must be completely confused with the mix messaging coming from the administration on tariffs. As of today options are limited to 1) fully absorb the tariffs (how many companies have > 100% margins?) to maintain your market

Bookings are down more than 60% according to one of our container tracking providers so this feels pretty close but possibly even a bit under. I suspect once companies see the tariffs on their bill from CBP & no sign of White House backing off, bookings will decline further.

I am watching the movie Heat and I wanted to check if the actress is a young Angelina Jolie so I went to google and-

FUCK

Which monster gave the LinkedIn posters access to AI image creation. Every vapid post is now accompanied by some meaningless photo that consumes half the screen

My bet is that this ends up as part of the Nintendo expansion pack membership

Did the Switch 2 paint itself into a corner? The Switch was under-powered but it was a console for everyone. The Switch 2 raised the bar on hardware but came with a jump up in price as a result. misplacedpixels.com/did-the-swit...

So good. 🤡 @brendanvduke.bsky.social

I think we can all agree that the true marker of the Switch 2's success will be a drop in the number of times old mate @skillup.bsky.social has to say "Coming to all platforms bar switch" every week.

I’ve seen a lot of failed attempts at “change management” happen because people assume they can just remove the bits they don’t like without putting something there to replace them. www.elliotcsmith.com/you-cant-del...

Oof. Poor Sid. Hope he isn't sad.

I think the time for NPS has come and gone. From experience in B2B and B2C I am not convinced that high scores actually correlate well to referral growth except in super niche circumstances.

I feel like there's an untapped product idea in domain registrars having an AI interface to describe your half baked product ideas and recommend available domain names.

So those rich men north of Richmond eh. Turns out it was mostly just one rich dude.

The recent ups and downs of Nvidia stock post the DeepSeek announcement got me thinking about a few signs of a hollow bubble: - Focus is mostly on cost savings - You get force fed the new thing without asking - LinkedIn etc. is suddenly flooded with gurus www.elliotcsmith.com/red-bubble-g...
