yes that's a major issue. Nina Olsen, the former taxpayer advocate, worked tirelessly to adjust the language and look of the letters so that they were less stressful for taxpayers. and to improve the language cuz sometimes its so steeped in jargon, taxpayers can't figure out what is being asked!

Brad Lander physically put his body on the line to protect a person being targeted by ICE goons, and this was the result. He’s an elected city official and mayoral candidate, but he’s also a good person. If every elected Dem showed that kind of bravery, we’d be in a much different position.

however, if they did mail to an incorrect address and you are able to prove that, for example, a 90 day letter doesn't count because the taxpayer didn't receive it. the 90 days are reset for lodging a protest.

i assume you mean letters going to wrong addresses? probably less than you think. they get info from your W2s, etc. alot of people ignore their letters. about 60% of the new to me clients are people who got letters and ignored them until the 90 day tax court letter arrives.

i woke up this am with loud booming thunder and the sound of planes and was like oh wow. are we getting attacked? it was so loud the windows were shaking. and then i remembered that im right in the flight path coming out of the airport. was a real jolt back to reality.

The larger stakes of dismissing both empathy and judgement is that societies will re-define what they mean by human. in ways that deeply impoverish what "human" means and dehumanizing all of us even easier. An excerpt from my HUMANS: A MONSTROUS HISTORY: lithub.com/were-already...

Bernie Moreno of Ohio is doing the same thing.
