“why isn’t this place more about me”

I’ve been living in NYC for a decade, and Cuomo practically destroyed the subway system during his first turn, abetted bedlam in Albany, accomplished nothing useful, and killed a bevy of seniors. He creates problems where there are none!

And the Dem consultants who run those polls, and Dem pols who take those polls to heart, will believe that they are extremely Savvy and Realistic and Pragmatic for doing so. They will never even take note of the fact that there was a PR war and they lost, again, because they wouldn't fucking fight.

If “dems should take culturally moderate positions” means moving to the right, then the evidence shows that is a failed strategy that only empowers the right.

We actually have a wealth of excellent candidates, none of whom are this freakin guy. @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social is first in my book. Then there's Brad Lander, Jessica Ramos, Adrienne Adams, & Zellnor Myrie—all good! MAKE SURE YOU RANK FIVE so your vote stays alive: bsky.app/profile/did:...

“if you protest us we’ll arrest you” is something you have to head off immediately and i don’t see that happening

Everyone can see this, right? That the main, oft-repeated message from manosphere influencers to their audience is "you suck, you weak loser"? Like a straight guy equivalent of beauty marketing targeting women that goes "you're fat and ugly, now buy this product to make yourself feel a bit better."

This will be challenged in court before a single penny is imposed. He will almost certainly lose, bc the text is just … plain as day. The headline is not “Trump imposes tariffs on movies.” The headline is: “Trump Makes Idle Late-Night Treat to Impose Tariffs the Law Says He Cannot.”

One needs to echo the people who have noted that if Trump was a foreign operative, he would do nothing different. I’m just sad I’m too old to see what the historians in 50 years will know about his being an agent of an enemy state.

Sir, it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote. Even if I take your explanation in good faith, the data doesn't support the need for additional legislation and bureacracy placing obstacles for voters. Even in high immigrant districts, the rate of noncitizen voting is 0.0001%.

The people they kidnapped and removed weren’t violent criminals. Why would anyone believe he would only do that to US citizens if THEY were violent criminals? He wants to put Leftists and journalists into ElSalvadoran prisons. That’s what this is.

There are tariffs on islands in the South Pacific that no one lives on.

the vaccine skeptic who self medicated his ADHD with heroin while in college & wants to put the rest of us on work farms to get us off our medications or whatever, is not presenting any actually helpful framework for improving the health of our communities. so no, you don't gotta hand it to him.

The renewed focus on marriage rights is a reminder: no civil right is permanent without vigilance. What was once considered settled law is again up for debate—on television, in legislatures, and in court.

there was and is no downside — none at all — to refusing to vote for a single trump nominee. the idea that any senate democrat would be punished for "not working with him" would have dissipated as soon as one of these people was involved in a catastrophic scandal, which was a certainty.

Compromise is not a goal. It is a tool to get things done. If it isn’t helping you achieve things, it has no value. Too many mistake a means for an end when discussing compromise in politics.

You don't get to claim you don't endorse something when you vote for it, pal. You literally did. You vote yes, you own it. Looking forward to supporting your primary challenger.

You are giving your power away for free. They are already weaponizing their power. This is your one chance to use your power. Do you think McConnell would have blinked? Absolutely not! Shut. It. Down. You are wrong, Chuck. Rethink this course of action before it's too late.

The case for Yes on cloture has to be "here's why this isn't the fight for us to pick, and here's which fights we're going to be picking instead, and here's why I'm making that case." In the absence of that it's just a poker player folding every hand when they're playing with your money.

Government is being shut down right now, Senator. People are being hurt; many will die. A Recession is already on it's way. A vote for CR without objection to Republican goals? Criticizing D colleagues as undignified as POTUS insults Senators at the SOTU? You are on the wrong side of History.

these aren't the problems people talk about with "crisis of masculinity" because solving those problems involves pushing back against patriarchy, not reifying it.
