They do look like ribbon diagrams! I just looked it up and ribbon diagrams would have been around when this piece was made (ribbon diagrams were invented in 1980), but I wonder if the artist had ever seen them before. Either way, I love the similarity

She doesn't have a BlueSky and this particular reel isn't posted to her YouTube Shorts. There isn't another platform he could have shared it from, and he liked the comedy sketch. I guess he might could have shared it from TikTok if it's on there, but I wouldn't say that's more ethical than Meta

People have referred to flu pandemics in more recent years, despite it being an ancient virus and well after there being vaccines. "Pandemic" *can* be used to describe previously established diseases and has by scientists, but governments seem at loath to use the word for political reasons

I can't tell if you're trolling. It's a fundraiser. The coin is a token of your participation in the fundraiser to keep Crash Course free for everyone forever

His Indy 500 is his 24 pack of frozen uncrustables in a cooler under his seat. 200 laps and 24 uncrustables, start your engines etc

as someone with POTS (I can't stand for very long and so grocery shopping is almost impossible for me) and autism (I struggle with the layout logic and changing of the grocery store more than most) this is the proposal made for me!

The RFK Jr. version of health, where health creates health and healthy people don't get sick and the thing that keeps you healthy is /living the right way/ is very seductive to a lot of people. It also places the burden of illness back on the ill, which decreases the value of human life.

I'm not saying women should have to stay somewhere they don't want to. I am saying they deserve to live in their home state. I'm saying that my mountains cannot be moved and my river cannot be moved. If all of the blue voters move away who can, those who can't move will be more isolated & in danger

people deserve to live near their families and their land and their community. "Just move" is blaming the victim and cedeing land to the right

I have listened to every episode of Dear Hank and John at least six times (except the most recent few, of which I've only listened to a couple of times each because they're new). I don't have much time for much else. About two episodes a day.

Actually much better in recent years, according to this graph from the Intrnationl Conference on Viral Hepatitis, malaria and TB are going down at similar rates. I think TB has a PR problem-- I used to think it was a problem of the past too, but John has taught me it's very much still in the present

John saying "pub day" immediately made me think he was referring to a day where he spent the whole day in a pub because he was so anxious about EiT coming out
