Unfortunately I think you're 100% on the money. I just told my dad last night we're essentially on the precipice of WW3 (one may argue we're already there with Gaza, Ukraine, and the trade war). We're on the bad timeline.

A hash of my prediction for the next 6-24 months informed by history: ca2e2d0e38399954df556342e788460cbafe1f4c7664ccaf1a20e7796f207a6e8e07f43b1bddfdd389e4cc67e4499b9ba4754c772b7f4139380285ef147f4160 I chose not to say it directly for fear of being targeted, but I'll quote in the future if it does

I get it 100%, I’ve definitely had it too. That being said you kick ass at what you do and definitely go above and beyond in what you do in your role if that helps at all.

Is this a recession indicator?

I sure hope not. But I’ve also learned not to underestimate the lengths that Dem leadership will go to “protect their own”.

Disgusting that dems are going to platform this republican in sheep’s skin for president. Dem leadership is complicit with fascism.

I believe this only applies to Medicare/Medicaid last I checked. Which is still fucked up but shouldn’t impact us. Tangentially related, I was told by my previous endo (a guy) “not to be concerned about it”(losing access to care GA care) 🙃. Never swapped away faster.

I would love a MTL office, that’s my favorite city I’ve been to, beautiful, full of rich history, and an active LGBT+ scene, plus a some beautiful dance music clubs. I’ve tried to move up there more than once…

Unfortunately I’d have concerns re-entering the US in that case, unless I simply declare asylum while I’m there 🤔

Wooo congrats! You certainly deserved it!

Big +1 to Apple Music, though I’m also neck deep in the Apple ecosystem so I’m slightly biased. I generally prefer the Apple version to most thing (incl Maps) as generally they’re the “no BS” version of everything. Apple Music also has lossless for no extra cost, Spotify has been dragging their feet

No worries, it’s what social media is for. If you wanna shoot me a DM I can answer to the best of my ability as I have time (if I don’t answer immediately I’m probably busy and will get to you as soon as I can).

Awe true, they don’t match with *everything* I suppose. Good luck on your search!

There’s a difference between awful and rusty, and you are certainly not awful at wow. You’re still the cracked rogue I knew in Dragonflight!

I wish Firefox forks were more viable but most of them have issues. Maybe this is the catalyst to help get them the users and contributors to help them stay more modern and current.

I am happy to use and support Safari and Orion on xnu based systems but that still leaves out Windows and Linux. I ideally would not like to use Chrome or Chrome-in-disguise. While Blink is a great rendering engine, I want to use and support alternatives as much as I can.

My dad works at SWA and I am working on a private pilot’s license - it is hounded into you during training that you clear both arrival/departure ends before crossing a runway even if you have clearance (which you’re required to get before crossing the hold short line). This is a severe mess up.

Kinda interesting to think about how far we’ve come from dial up over old POTS systems where we were reusing the analog phone lines for digital packets, to now sending digital packets over analog audio, where the audio is then going over a packet switched (digital) phone network.

I remember wondering what that would do on a particularly difficult boss encounter and pressing it. I wish I could say I had a save right before the boss fight but… many lessons were learned that day.

Below are the ping graphs I was using. Not green is packet loss, blank is when I was troubleshooting. The significant jump up in latency is when I started using the tunnel. If a Google fiber engineer sees this, I would love you forever if you can dig into this. Screams BGP or cfg change to me.

It’s really hard to explain to L1 “this looks like a BGP issues on y’all’s end”, even trying to describe the problem generally, “packet loss to a significant majority but not all IPv4 addresses” is a trip. It always returns to “(my) equipment is at fault” even though the issue runs counter to that.

In the tunnel: no traffic loss, no issues except for slightly increased latency and speed penalty Out of the tunnel to normal default route: 30 - 40% packet loss to about 90% of v4 targets tried. Notably, 1.1.1.1 always had 100% availability, whereas 8.8.8.8 was a problem child, as was 9.9.9.9
