100% agree that the uncoordinated marching and choice of music with no marching cadence were both malicious compliance.

Apparently they're halfway through introducing new dress uniforms, so half have the old ones and half have the new ones, and the only way to have them all match was to put everyone in something else entirely.

The platoon commanders get a briefing on the route a few days beforehand, and they might have had everyone march a lap of the parade ground when they mustered to size the platoons the week before, but that's about it unless you're in the Ceremonial Guard.

The military personnel marching in ANZAC Day parades are, quite literally, random units from the nearest military base or ship. The only people who don't march are those on Duty that day or with a medical exemption.

Keep a wig in your back pocket, just in case.

I should have read more replies to replies before asking. No holding your breath allowed.

I assume feeling for a pulse with your fingers isn't allowed, but is it considered cheating to hold your breath until you can feel your pulse in your lips?

If you need to deal with a "why don't you have kids?" busybody, try shuddering a little and saying, quite seriously, "oh god, no! I'm allergic."
It short-circuits something in their script.

The cognitive dissonance when someone follows "it's selfish to not have kids", with "but who'll look after you when you get old?" always gets me.

I'm trying very hard not to. I have a purring tortie on my chest, so even if I muffle the sound the shaking will still disturb her.
Coincidentally, she's the attack groomer in my household.

Not yet.
Someone posted a link to the @botsky creator's profile, and I was able to follow another link from there to the Gemini account.

Are they outlandishly fluffy/cartoon character slippers, or boring grown-up slippers?

There was a world-class ranty shouting guy outside my local polling booth for the federal election before last. He was with whatever Clive Palmer had branded himself that time. He gave everyone something to giggle at while waiting in line. Outstanding vocal stamina, but completely nonsensical.

They send you a form when they fine you. Fill it out, return it, no fine owed.

I voted yesterday. My nearest polling place was in a Primary School less than 5 minutes walk from my house. There was no queue (although that's not always the case; it often takes 10 minutes or so).

That's not what people were saying a few years ago. I'm glad to hear it was changed.

You know that thing where you sometimes startle awake out of a deep sleep for no apparent reason? About a month ago my body decided to add full-force molar cheek chomping to the routine.

Same. He casts a shadow on several of the prisoners, and it follows their body contours as he moves.

I may legitimately need to fill out a workplace accident report because I gave myself whiplash by facepalming too hard in a meeting this morning.

My home state has an area of 2,527,013 sq km. Protesting tends to be a capital city activity.

One of mine enjoys grooming the sisal wrapped around the uprights of cat trees.
I'm sure it makes perfect sense in Cat.

The first time I watched Enterprise the opening theme annoyed me because it wasn't very Trek. I skipped it for the next few episodes, but eventually the story it told made it by far my favourite.

A standalone (non-365) copy of Office 2024.

Thank you. That's a lot easier to read.
My vision is pretty good for my late 40's, but I've often given up halfway through your replies because of the lack of contrast between the text and page background.

If it has an international airport it's near a border.

You can (mostly) remove all visible signs of it from specific apps, but that doesn't actually remove it from your machine. It can keep doing whatever it wants to your data in the background.

Office 2024 is currently available as a non-subscription purchase. When you install it you also need to sign out of 365 to make the subscription version go away.

You need to install the standalone versions of the office app and sign out of 365. The change to a "classic" subscription will only take place when you next pay the annual fee.
