As a Muslim girl in Bradford, I saw my story in Jane Austen’s novels. Now I’ve directed a TV series about her | Ali Naushahi

Is anyone going to this? Me and my 'gig wife' are going through a rough spell so she's cried off?

Very excited that my copy of #AccidentalImmigrants by @jomcmillan.bsky.social has arrived - published by @ofmooseandmen.bsky.social Can’t wait to read it 📚❤️📚 #books #BookSky

14 books read this month. Some @womensprize.bsky.social nominees. Some new discoveries via bluesky. Four very different five star reads.

Just read this. One to savour and read again. Just beautiful book. WW1 survivor goes to work uncovering a painting in a village church in North Yorkshire. With it comes healing, friendship and life!

Lucy Mangan is spot on about Dept. Q. It’s a real cut above procedural, adapted from Danish books, set in a grimily unpleasant Edinburgh and headed by Matthew Goode in the role of his career as a cantankerous bastard yet rumpledly sexy police detective www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

There’s nowhere on the planet that looks like the Joshua Tree National Park. It’s extraordinary and I never tire of it.

I just started reading The Survival of the Fittest by Pamela Hansford Johnson. A writer I have really enjoyed previously. She is great at weaving a good old saga. This story of a group of friends from the 1930s to the 1960s seems right up my street. 💙📚

The Master Key was such a good read. Secrets, jealousies, loneliness, and despair abound in this unusual Japanese crime novel originally published in 1962. 💙📚

I have been logged out of my toothbrush.

OMG OMG Some of your may remember the time I grew hostas from seed? The biggest one was named Hosta-Bob. I gave them all to @kbspangler.com when I moved, and now Hosta-Bob has FLOWERED! And is getting big!

Painting of the Day - San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk by Claude Monet.

At home our tulips & cherry blossom have already gone So I was enjoying an evening stroll admiring them in full bloom here in #Finland 🌷 When from behind the blossom stepped @billyrosaphd.bsky.social -such a wonderful surprise to finally meet in person after working together online for years 🤗

Just been to a wonderful book event with Graeme Lawson this evening in Ely, hosted by www.toppingbooks.co.uk Had to buy the book! It looks fascinating. Recommended.

🥺 I received official notice that my NIH grant, "Early Characterization of Cognitive Status & AD Risk in African American Men," has been terminated. I have no clue how to process the news. Nonetheless, I remain committed to this line of inquiry & advancing research on Black men’s brain health.

Great new eLearning that promotes oral care from @parkinsons.org.uk #carers #carehomes www.parkinsons.org.uk/professional...

Speaking medical lingo can really help in getting right advice from GP. I do wonder how some fare with e-consult service and the like. No discredit to primary care colleagues doing an unenviable job in an immensely pressured system using all options to manage the load.

Excited to share a fantastic webinar hosted by @npchf.bsky.social 1-2pm 10th June CQC Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes Expert speaker CQC meds inspector Candida Bradley #PharmacyTechnician Join now @pcpa-uk.bsky.social Don't miss out @sundusjawad.bsky.social @aptuk.bsky.social

The Orange Notebooks is a beautifully written novel that deals with the most difficult of griefs, a parent's loss of their child. Exquisitely told and ultimately offering hope. Along with bees and beige. Loved it. Another winner from @ofmooseandmen.bsky.social @susannacrossman.bsky.social

And then there were two... Pooh! Actually one is the first edition, one is the second.
