Posted today, my review of “The Burgundians: A Vanished Empire” from @bloomsburybooksus.bsky.social a fascinating look into a short lived continental power and what I see as one of the bigger what ifs of the Middle Ages, with implications for the 100 Years War and the Habsburgs #history #BookReview

New book review coming this week. To give you a hint of what it will be about: waffles and beer #bookreview #history

Read this book when it came out and absolutely enjoyed it! Natasha Wheatley gave a very unique look into Austrian legislative practices at the beginning of the 20th century

New review on the ol’ Substack. This one is a particularly great intro for those who are unfamiliar with Central European history. #history #books #bookreview open.substack.com/pub/empiresa...

Took a bit of an unexpected hiatus for the holidays and the start of a new job, but will be posting a new book review soon! Feel free to suggest a country/topic related to Central Europe to post on and if one of the reviews I’m holding back is on that topic I’ll release it! #history #books

Every Christmas while I watch old holiday favorites the thought always comes back to me that if I were ever to become a drug dealer my nickname would definitely be Frosty the blow man

Would anyone read a spy novel set in the post 1848 Revolutions Austria-Hungarian empire? And yes id you’re wondering I did read a John Le Carre novel right after finishing a book on Austrian history

New review of the insightful “Budapest: Portrait of a City Between East and West” by Victor Sebestyen. The perfect introduction to the story of the city and to Hungary and the Magyar people substack.com/home/post/p-... #history #Budapest #Hungary #bookreviews #CentralEurope

🌍 To commemorate the opening of the Berlin conference 140 years ago (on 15 November 1884), activists toppled the Otto von Bismarck statue in Frankfurt Höchst.

So new followers I have a few options for the next book review I post. Would you rather I share one on Budapest, The Burgundians or a general survey on Central European history? #books #bookreview #history #writing #Europe (really hope #Bluesky adds polls soon)
