There was a column in the SMH about how a couple with $8m in combined super wanted to avoid paying tax. The columnist pointed out if one super balance went from $3.0m to $3.4m the liability for the new super tax would be.... $7,056. Yep on $400,000 earnings www.theguardian.com/business/gro...

The @albomp.bsky.social govt is being awfully quiet about Lattouf v ABC Not even any expressions of "grave concern" about the craven capitulation, unlawful behaviour & derogation of public interest journalism by ABC senior management? No interest in the integrity of the national broadcaster?

“The money isn't just being used only to fund their retirement. The plan is for it to help fund the inheritances of their other children without necessitating selling off the family farm” Oh f*ck off. Super tax breaks are not to fund inheritance. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06...

Good read from Greg Barns on Lattouf's win over national broadcaster, ABC For more on what's going on at the University of Melbourne read this👇 (Should be of concern to University of Melbourne staff, students & alumni)

We have sob stories about people with $5.5m in super, advice for those with $8m in super for how to avoid tax. It’s not just the tax system that needs fixing - also our media My column. www.theguardian.com/business/gro...

If ABC management wants to demonstrate that it has learned from the #AntoinetteLattouf case, here's an idea: Commission #4Corners to do an in-depth investigation into how the Israel lobby has built up such massive influence over Australian institutions. Including, or course, the ABC. #auspol

hey quick question: is anyone in the government's leadership going to say anything about the ABC? surely a high profile unfair dismissal linked to managing cowing to a lobby group, and involving board meddling, is worth saying something? maybe even an investigation? some consequences for the board?

Why are the identities of these people withheld? The Zionists powerful grip on our institutions writ large for all to see, again. Want to suppress shit? Own it! #auspol

Congratulations to @antoinettelattouf.bsky.social on today's victory! May her bravery & the judgment from Rangiah J send a clear message to panicked, supine cultural institutions to stop throwing their artists, journalists & other employees under the bus.

Hugh Marks was just on ABC News 24 talking about the court case loss to Antoinette Lattouf. Not one direct apology to Antoinette. ABC are now truly despicable. It was a total sham of an interview by Ros Childs.

Great news!

#Gaza "Justice Rangiah also found the decision ... was made to appease pro-Israel lobbyists who would "inevitably escalate" complaints, after a coordinated campaign to have Ms Lattouf taken off air." www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06...

On the Lattouf judgment: I didn't fully appreciate how the complaints that led to her unfair dismissal were centered around our reporting on Sydney Opera House protest (which ABC execs said was "journalistically sound"). I stand by the reporting & glad to see today's decision.

A Melbourne food bank helping to feed up to 7,000 people a week says it could be forced to close after the City of Casey approved its permit with strict conditions www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06...

Judge: "I infer that Mr Oliver-Taylor sought to mitigate the anticipated deluge of complaints [...] In that sense, the decision was made to appease pro-Israel lobbyists who would inevitably escalate the complaints about the ABC." www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06...

Confirms what we all knew about just how much the ABC is hostage to Zionists and how much Ita Buttrose failed her staff and all of us. #auspol

ABC staff have reacted viscerally to the news Antoinette Lattouf defeated the broadcaster in court this morning. Daanyal Saeed reports.

The entire board, who not only watched their chair and senior management take this course of action, but also signed off on who knows how many millions in legal fees, should quit in embarassment.

Congratulations @antoinettelattouf.bsky.social Federal court rules #ABC unlawfully terminated her after ‘orchestrated campaign by pro-Israel lobbyists’ The ABC caused this stupid reactionist mess. They have a lot of work to do to win back Australians #auspol www.theguardian.com/media/2025/j...

"Ms Buttrose’s evidence under cross-examination was somewhat theatrical and difficult to follow at times" Polite way of saying it.

This was my favourite piece of court reporting on the Lattouf trial. Hilarious glazing of Buttrose that was obviously way off the mark to anyone else who watched the trial. Even more embarrassing now the judge described her as “difficult to understand” and theatrical”.

The Albanese government approval of Woodside North West shelf LNG plant to 2070 is an historic mistake and a denial of climate science. It, 1. allows Woodside to double its historical emissions 2. is a subversion of the Paris Agreement 3. goes in opposite direction to Australia's net zero pathway

The ABC sacked our colleague because of her political opinion and to appease a lobby group, the court found. And they spent more than $1 million on ridiculous defences including the she was never sacked and there is no such thing as a Lebanese race. Time for the ABC to rethink how it treats staff.

I hope the Lattouf decision gives other board members decision makers around the country serious pause in the future. Political opinions are still legal in this country. Facts and criticism about horrific human rights violations should be supported, not punished.

It has taken a court case and legal decision to highlight the undue influence of the pro-Israel lobby on the state broadcaster. Congratulations to Lattouf and her team. However, does raise the question of what other areas of govt policy have/are influenced by the lobby?

In the past it has been accepted that family farms are usually only handed down to one child. The one most likely to want to run it. Other kids miss out. It's the nature of the beast. It shouldn't be up to taxpayers to ensure all a farmer's kids get an "inheritance."

As the most hated VIC Premier in living memory, Kennett slashed 45,000 jobs across public sector. This included nearly 4,000 nurses and over 7,000 teachers. We are STILL struggling from chronic shortages from his idiocy decades later. The only thing Kennett “put first” was his delusions of grandeur

In answers to questions from Senator Thorpe, NLC said 5 of its councillors declared conflicts with Good Advice, 4 in paid roles. "you’ve got someone being paid by a gas company but then they’re also in there negotiating with the gas company about destroying country by fracking it" #auspol #NTpol

I'm genuinely surprised @aunz.theconversation.com would publish such a misleading article. This is not 'journalism you can trust' it's propaganda. theconversation.com/australia-co... #auspol #climate

Penny Wong, 2003: "I say suspicion is not enough. To justify going to war we need more than suspicion. What sort of world would we live in if suspicion alone was justification for participation in unilateral military action outside the auspices of the UN? "
