Oil Spills are devastating for our oceans, its marine life and our own health. But nanomaterials may be a saving grace! These tiny particles could help us clean up oil spills, soaking up oil without releasing toxic chemicals into the ocean themselves. #nature #goodgreennews #oil #gas #climate #eco

850 NEW OCEAN SPECIES DISCOVERED! 🌊🦈 The Ocean Census project has made huge strides in exploring our oceans, discovering over 850 new species unknown to science! These amazing finds will help scientists improve conservation efforts for ocean ecosystems. #nature #goodgreennews #ocean #animal #news

Woodland Trust sows 75,000+ seeds across Devon and Cornwall in order to triple the area of temperate rainforest ecosystems in the UK! 🌱🌳👏 By taking to the skies, the Woodland Trust have been able to make a major step forwards in boosting British biodiversity! #nature #flowers #goodgreennews #birds

Possibly a very exciting revelation in ocean research reducing the risk posed to researchers in more remote and treacherous regions of the ocean!

The future of vehicles is electric, there are fantastic European electric cars available now - we need to be talking about how consumers are switching and how charging point infrastructure has improved - we need to keep talking about that because fossil fuel companies keep spreading misinformation

With Monarch Butterfly populations seeing fewer numbers each year, this comes as great news! The population of these pollinators have seen a rebound in Mexico thanks to recent #conservation efforts in the country. Find out more below! #goodgreennews #nature #climate #animal #naturewriting #scicomm

Happy #WorldAquaticAnimalDay! 🌊🐬🐙 Today is a day to celebrate and raise awareness for the wonderful #species that call our waters home - what’s your favourite aquatic #animal? Tell us in the comments below ⬇️ (Ours is the Green Sea Turtle!) #goodgreennews #animal #nature #ocean #river #turtle

New paper alert! This study has found that making use of small, molecular heaters, we could improve crop yields! Not only will this boost the amount of food we can produce to sustain our growing population, but it could mean we can use less land and space to do so, leaving more for #nature!

This is very exciting! Finland is now incredibly close to cutting out coal from its power system entirely, with the last coal-powered power plant shutting down in favour of renewable energy! Go Finland! 🇫🇮🥳 #goodgreennews #nature #coal #climatechange #climate #renewables

Scientists discover the goings-on of the early months of a Polar Bear’s life! Not much is known about a #polarbear cub’s first few months, but now, researchers have uncovered some fascinating detail, thanks to new evidence collected by camera. Find more below! #nature #photography #goodgreennews

This new study reveals a concerning concept - that the ocean warming in the Southern Ocean could be more damaging to the planet than that in the Arctic. Warming in the Southern Ocean is wreaking havoc on the ice of Antarctica and tropical rainfall - all the more reason to tackle climate change!

Awesome news this - get on there while it’s still available!

Happy Earth Month to all who celebrate! 💚🌍 By which we mean everyone! We’re so grateful to all those fighting for our planet! Despite the state of the climate crisis, we truly believe if we all keep fighting, we can make change in the systems oppressing our home. #earthmonth #earth #nature #birds

How could we improve #plastic recycling? A new process has been able to recover 94% of the pieces making up plastic bottles, promising a more efficient and sustainable recycling method. This is really positive news for tackling the plastic crisis! #nature #goodgreennews #climate #naturewriting

How Wild Forests Change Rivers* A branch covered in ivy falls into a river during a storm, and begins to collect leaves, twigs, + other debris, creating a dam. With a flood, there's every chance a new, different, channel will be carved out. Such processes are a constant in the rainforest here. 🌎

As vital as wind farms are - and we certainly need more - putting one on peatland is a rather silly idea. Peat is vital in a springing and storing #carbon from the atmosphere and is key in tackling #climatechange so destroying it to creat wind farms may not be the best… petition away! #nature #act

Fantastic thread by @patricepottier.bsky.social summarizing their team's work on climate threats to amphibians. Over 100 species already at thermal limits, & many more will be. Extreme heat really important, including at hourly level, & conserving microclimate refuge vital. Read the thread! 🐸 🧪 🌎

How successful are turtle releases? Very, it turns out! Research by @newenglandaquarium.bsky.social has found that rescued sea turtles live for years after release back into the #ocean, proving this method of #conservation and protection is vitally effective! #goodgreennews #nature #turtle #news

More evidence of the need to put better emphasis on protection of key species and implementing more fishing quotas!

Another cool paper out recently! This explored the role of sea urchins in habitat creation off New South Wales, Australia. Though finding warming oceans are pushing them out of northern NSW, migrating south and developing warm temperature adaptations could help them mitigate climate change’s impact

This vital new paper has discovered that some #lizard species are adapting (slightly) to #climatechange. Pregnant females are finding ways to ensure their eggs are kept at a safe temperature so a healthy clutch of babies are born, despite this adaptation having adverse impacts on the mother.

This is great news for both science research and climate science alike - with the defunding of research in the USA, it’s great to see European universities supporting the amazing scientists out there to continue their work!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who took part in #EarthHour 🌎 Whether you were able to switch off or not, be sure to take some time today and get your #DailyDoseOfNature! 🌳✨
