My turn to give voice to the Bureau’s climate long range forecast today. For June to August. www.bom.gov.au/climate/outl...

A reminder that physics does not give a rats putooty *where* Australian fossil fuels are burned - locally or overseas - their impacts are global and will hit Australia hard through more climate and weather extremes. This is supported overwhelmingly in the risk assessment science.

Nope, this is NOT what Ella Shane and her reporter friend Hetty wear when they go cycling, but it's a lovely Art Deco pic! #vintage poster from the NYPL Digital Collections. #artdeco #cycling #histfic #mystery #mysterywriter #vintagestyle #writerslife

This Spring (March-April-May) may end up being the driest on record for the UK. This would also make it the driest of any season in a dataset that goes back to 1836. Spring in 1852 currently holds the record for driest season at 100.7 mm averaged across the UK. www.bbc.co.uk/weather/arti...

Bumped into someone just back from walking the Heysen Trail from Cape Jarvis to Victor Harbour. They had to wear face masks because of throat irritation walking along the (closed) beaches. A large number of dead fish washed up. Described it as feeling apocalyptic.

pretty lucky that we've had the atmosphere we've had for so long. fairly super important that we look after it.

The world needs more of this and less of most other things

Unusual mean sea level pressure map today. Pretty clear set-up of “zonal flow,” where the air across Australia all moves more or less in an easterly-westerly direction.

No, "Australia" is in not in "a cost-of-living nightmare". For many, inflation is no biggie. We're in a poverty and inequality nightmare. If the media and political class only focus on the cost of things, and not structural problems, we'll never properly tax wealth. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05...

Can fossil fuel companies be held legally accountable for climate-related damages? Researchers have a new method they say links the emissions from specific companies to trillions of dollars in economic harm.
