"Cleopatra Jones" is a fun cult / blaxploitation film. Tamara Dobson stuns, whether she is overseeing the air bombing of poppy fields or driving the sickest Corvette in all of LA. Opposing her is the drug lord Mommy, played by a scenery chewing Shelley Winters.

We were always conscious on Discovery of leaving the post-Burn era as a somewhat open field for future exploration, so I'm excited to see what new stories and characters are unearthed in that sandbox.

It's a series of increasingly disjointed and mostly ill conceived sequels (also like "Halloween") but even at its worst there's something memorable.

For a franchise that began as a knock-off of "Halloween" and quickly ramped up to become a factory to take advantage of the first film's massive popularity and profit margins (8 films were released within a decade,) I've largely enjoyed my time at Camp Crystal Lake.

Since then, we haven't missed a Friday the 13th without watching the next film. Tonight we finish our run with "Friday the 13th" (2009), the reboot by Platinum Dunes.
(This experiment also forced us to marathon the largely superior "Nightmare on Elm Street" films before "Freddy vs Jason")

I recently watched "Viy" (1967) and found it fascinating. It's a folk horror film from the Soviet Union -- not purely possession, but there are elements of it.
"Häxan" (1922) is an incredible early "documentary" about witchcraft. Lots of reenactments, has a great folk horror vibe.

As a curiosity, I looked into the company that manages Welles's estate.
It was founded in 2012, nearly thirty years after their client died. I'm sure they have his best interests (and the interest of his legacy) at heart.

Welles died in 1985. I sincerely doubt the management team in charge of his estate have any idea what he'd have wanted done with his voice and image in regards to generative AI. Hell, I'd love to know how many even MET him

Post-"Andor" it feels narratively stronger / clearer in some spots. Everything centered around Saw Gerrera specifically felt better on rewatch.
Emotionally the film is more disjointed now -- Cassian is sidelined in a way that doesn't quite fit, especially with everyone looking to Jyn for direction

Elias rocks! He's a cool dude and a wonderful actor. I'm a big gamer, so I was very excited when we cast him.
Naturally I got the episode assigned after L'ak's final appearance, but thankfully we met up during the WGA / SAG-AFTRA strikes so I got to talk Trek and games with him eventually.

I worked on seasons 3-5 and co-wrote two episodes in seasons 4 and 5. It was a great experience, having grown up as a fan.
Love the work you guys do at IDW and the Lower Decks run looks great! (Though I am perpetually bummed at the long-ago canceled TNG / “Aliens” crossover)
