From my experience with finally quitting (2007), I had to try several times to truly feel and want the benefits, then realize I just have to avoid one drink - the next one. And avoid those people who will directly or indirectly undermine my efforts because of who they choose to be.

Yes I agree this national catastrophe is at root about a very, very damaged boy-man, and not a man in any of the ways one would like that term to have virtuous meaning.
