A Bronx high school student showed up at a routine immigration court date in Manhattan last week. ICE was waiting. Please read this one. Immigration enforcement is an education story: www.chalkbeat.org/newyork/2025...

FREE POST ALERT! This month's tasty treat is @freeblackgirl.bsky.social's review of Ryan Coogler's Sinners, a film that delves into Black southern intimacies via a tale of vampires & momentary freedom: theflytrap.beehiiv.com/p/sinners-ce...

you know what would help a place not be full of strangers? LETTING PEOPLE MIGRATE WITH THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS

NEORSD doing the true work of evangelizing for infrastructure. Support what supports you! By which I mean pipes and bridges and whatnot.

HUGE congrats to my @theflytrapmedia.com comrade @tinavasquez.bsky.social, a James Beard Finalist! Her work on connections between immigrant communities and food is so good; this piece on the garbage food farmworkers are being forced to eat while picking our produce is amazing.

congrats to this amazing group!

A big day for Big Local News - so glad we could be a part of this Pulitzer Prize work with The Balimore Banner and The New York Times Investigative Reporting Fellowship! biglocalnews.org/content/news...

subhead: "Following Farage on immigration while cutting money from OAPs and the disabled has been a disaster" how could they have thought those moves would be anything other than a disaster?!

hard to comprehend how much worse an already dire situation is becoming. on purpose. consider joining me in making a donation to an organization working to end this siege, or directly donate to a family bsky.app/profile/momm...

Please spread the word about these openings at Education Law Center-PA, which I can highly recommend as a place to work and make a difference. I'm especially interested in generating more candidates for this Communication Director position because I'm retiring in May! www.elc-pa.org/wp-content/u...

I am dead serious about this. I'm a member of @transjournalists.org, I know hundreds of trans journalists. That not a single trans voice is represented in mainstream UK media about policy directly impacting our community is sheer and utter cowardice, not a lack of articulate writers. DO BETTER.

Remembering journalist Lyra McKee, killed on 18.04.19. Justice for a journalist’s killing is critical. It is owed to the victim and it is key to ensuring that other journalists are able to work safely and without fear.

"Now is the moment to work in solidarity with other marginalised groups, and resist an establishment which wants to force us into ever smaller boxes." Analysis of the Supreme Court ruling that has changed Trans rights in the UK from @jessothomson.co.uk 👇 www.wearequeeraf.com/uk-supreme-c...

The UK supreme court today ruled that the terms ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ in the Equality Act refer to biological sex. Trump's Executive Order 14168, issued on 20 January, similarly proclaims to be ‘Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government’. Judith Butler: www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

completely disgusted by the supreme court ruling in the UK today. sent my first letter to my MP in response.

I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article

thanks to @tonyelkins.com for the recommendation to read @rebeccanagle.bsky.social's "by the fire we carry." exceptional book, so timely. always love journalist-written non-fiction! www.harpercollins.com/products/by-...

"the only power I have – the only power that many of us have – is to continually raise our voices and say that we do not consent to this." www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

thanks to @traciepowell.bsky.social for this important piece outlining the similarities (and consequences!) of racism in housing and in journalism funding. www.poynter.org/commentary/2...

Always a good time to read Poor People’s Movements

@ximenabustillo.bsky.social did extensive reporting and research for this, and we worked together to boil this complex process down into a series of flowcharts. Thanks as well to to editor Anna Yukhananov, art director @emilybogle.bsky.social, illustrator Ana Galvañ and copy editor Pam Webster.

"The purpose of a system is what it does; if your work environment is designed to maximize scale and sales revenues, you will be constantly nudged towards adopting these frames of reference as your guiding principles."

hell yeah for shit stirring. also: "Help create spaces and opportunities for these leaders to be at the table (or form their own tables) to share policy and advocacy agendas—not just get quoted in reports and have token seats on panels." SO MUCH WISDOM in grassroots organizations, embrace it!

New, from @maanvisingh.bsky.social and I: immigrants are being arrested after routine check-ins with Ice. It means uncertainty and fear for people trying to follow the rules set by the govt www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
