"We can 'follow the science' even when it scares us, instead of insisting that 'we have to live our lives' until those lives go up in flames." Violet Affleck for the intersectionality win. #ChronicIllness #Disability #Covid #Climate #ClimateChange yaleglobalhealthreview.com/2025/05/18/a...

135 Palestinians killed in Gaza so far today. Massacre after massacre, day after day. The world does nothing.

Let's see more anti-trans legislators be asked to prove their biological sex.

“Just leave the country/state” is not an option for most disabled people. Relocating takes a significant amount of time, money, resources and health that many of us do not have. Many countries won’t accept those who are disabled and/or poor. Leaving is a privilege. Fight for those who can’t flee

It’s worth noting that the tactics for stripping us of our rights mirror the tactics of abuse. If RFK Jr. made vaccines illegal immediately, there would be massive outcry. By chipping away piece by piece, he’s hoping each step on the path to a ban feels “not that bad” and “normal.”

I wish them all hideous corprus.

Does it make sense to say that I'm shocked but not surprised? Also note Noem's agile pivot from a patently false definition of habeas corpus to the assertion a minute later that the president has the right to unilaterally suspend it. Interrogate everything they say. Trust none of it.

Please read. I don't care about the celebrity element, but it's important for all of us to understand these dynamics of abuse.

Striking workers in Washington State will now get unemployment from the state. A bill giving workers out on strike 6 weeks of unemployment insurance was just signed into law after passing both chambers. Workers affected by employer lockouts will also benefit from the new law.

Looks cool. For health reasons, I'm having difficulty with my big rewrite. I'm hoping a new treatment will turn things around, and maybe #FFYW can help me complete the revisions in June. Worth a try, yeah? #writing #AmEditing #AmWriting #ChronicIllness #WritingCommunity #Mystery #BookSky

I knew the word "enshittification," but never read the original piece. It's a very good read -- I highly recommend it. Thanks for sharing, Kubobukata.

In addition to the undeniable enshittification of online spaces, and companies stealing the products of our creative work to sell them back to us, this is more evidence in support of the assumption that the tech bros aren’t our friends. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Me, countless times: Says the thing. Room: Conversation continues as though I hadn't spoken. White male colleague: Says the same thing. Room: All hail this dude's idea! For clergywomen, taking up space and asserting our authority is a far larger piece of the job than it should be.

"The bare minimum will reach the population - simply so the world doesn't stop us and accuse us of war crimes." www.bbc.com/news/live/cq...

Fun thread here. I'll bet a lot of bookworms like me have words learned from reading that we were mispronouncing in our heads. Like me sounding out "bas relief."

Guilty. I feel weird if I text too fast and my sentence ends without a period.
