life is an acutely painful struggle for me, even now. even though I'm "safe"
but my daughter needs me, and that keeps me going even at my lowest. and the rest of my family (both human & animal, blood & chosen) help a ton. thank you to all who have been there for me. I know I'm not alone. ืืืฉ ืชืืื

the amount of malice in this world continues to astound and dishearten me, and many times I've felt like I was cursed to be born into the world's most hated tribe.

and I remain way too sensitive and soft despite all the shit I've been through. even the slightest bit of hateful venom I come across (including if it's aimed at Jews in general, and not just at me specifically) is like an icy dagger to my heart.

sometimes I feel like I'm too soft to survive. I know I'm damaged. I know I have plenty of healing left to do despite my progress. I know I need more therapy. I just feel so crushed and scared and broken much of the time.

then I close my eyes because my heart races and I feel a whole storm of things brought on by the memory... finally I take a deep breath, I pick up my stylus again, and I attempt to resume drawing.

Megiddo is near my hometown of Haifa, in northern Israel. Iโve been there a few times but it was ages ago

there are SO MANY species of amphibians (especially anurans) here and I think that's one of my boo's fave things about living here.
at night and especially when it's been raining a lot (like lately) we hear so many different frog/toad calls all around us. it's charming and even a little magical โจ

the frog (who has yet to be named) made himself right at home and started calling within an hour in the enclosure! I'm sure he'll be even more pleased once my boo adds the live plants.
this is one of Joe's favorite local species and I'm glad he has one in his life again.

more deets: my husband recently found this loudass male squirrel tree frog that had been calling in our waterlogged backyard for a few days and, being the frog fanatic he is, decided to keep him.

also yes I should note that Skoosh has the brain of a dead slug, so despite sitting beneath the umbrella he soon complained about being soggy.... when he *chose* to plant his fuzzy butt down right in a puddle lol
