What was the significance of the statue wearing a toga and cuirass?

She's still being tortured essentially, undergoing pain and etc. although you can question what's "left" of her to understand it. It also won't be easy for family n caregivers, witnessing her inevitable downward spiral.

If it was the patient n family wish , there would still be an ethical debate about this given the torture n low chances of success, with possible long term harm even if successful to the baby but in THIS scenario? Absolutely zilch.

Her heart is still beating, however, it does so due only to the life support she's on. however, she's still vuln to infection and other problems from being on life support, which combined with the body not reacting as "normally" to the pregnancy, chances are the fetus won't survive to C section.

That kind of growth will suggest extremely high infectivity once it breaches your defences. The spores can contaminate walls and be dispersed from there... So any house, apartment, barn can be contaminated and a source of Contagion, slowly building up.

In game, incubation takes 2 days before the runner stage occurs. That's EXTREMELY rapid growth, including the brain which is very well protected against infections by several barriers. Hell, CDC claims diagnosis can be made within MINUTES after contracting the disease(presumably exposure by bite)

The problem as always is how much biology you want to apply to this Vs how much you want to use the scientific method to extrapolate from game/show media. In reality, our immune systems work very well against fungal infections. Fungal infx happens in places like our skin where immune can't reach.

It's honestly depends on how virulent the fungus is. In open air, the chances of you being exposed to sufficient spores to be successfully infected is low, hence why it's damp enclosed rooms in game that was problematic. The flip side is that the spores can grow in normally bad conditions.

Then the soldier account is propaganda from the NEW US government trying to discredit it precedessor and blame everything on them, aka it's Trump economy where it's good, Biden for where it's bad.

So only One F16 pass but with dumb bombs, one MLRS pass but no ammo afterwards. Soldiers dispersed because rounding up civie stragglers to escape n ran out of fuel etc. blocking batt sacrificed to allow civie convoy to run away or equivalent.

A common fanfic project I seen is people trying to rewrite Yonkers, that or portray the soldier account as being inherently biased and propaganda. A common way to do it is that the "Panic" and "flu" meant the army units mobilised were half manned, without access to logistics, forced to block Yonkers

The games had an airborne infection route which the TV show removed, as the writers wrote that would had killed off humanity realistically... Kinda true, or at least made cities uninhabitable. Although an adage would be survivors were probably those more resistant to infection and survive

The spores were too magically TOUGH, given they survived the multiple cooking process from flour to bread, pastries and etc.

The TV show removed the airborne aspect though, which is what would had defeated even NBC troops. The spores were persistent and difficult to deactivate, as seen by it's foodborne spread. So soldiers would be forced to go through strict deconm and vehicle usage restricted.

The SARS model where government cover up trended... As seen explicitly in WWZ. Sadly, that trope is just too effective, since humans have blamed disease on the "other", be it German aspirin in WW1, labs for Ebola n covid and of course, the French/Polish/Russian disease for syphilis

Someone need to remind all the people who wrote about WOW and epidemiology modelling that they can remove the bits about Humans won't grief players by deliberately spreading it and targeting healers.

Given it's persistence n if airborne, even MOPP4 would had required decontamination before eating and drinking, although that would depend on how virulent it was and how effective your immune system is.

Primary vector was spores actually. The initial spread was linked to mould present in wheat flour which survived the cooking process and infected billions that way. The TV show chose to remove the airborne aspect as that would had doomed the survivors, as they didn't have lasting immunity.
