Don't forget, his middle name is Hakeem "what can we do?" Jefferies. In other words, he doesn't likely have one.

Once again you've done an exemplary job of detailing what "should" happen

That would be 0.833 children per flag.

Thank you. All of these people embody the "nothing will essentially change" mentality... that not only brought that party to an all-time low, but awakened some of us to the futility of electoral politics in the US.

This type of thinking got us nowhere during the first Trump administration. Of course he's an idiot. Now figure out how to physically resist and prepare for what's coming. And don't count on the Democrats to have any answers; it's all about building community and mutual aid and direct action.

You forget that his middle name is Hakeem "What Can We Do?" Jeffries

Directly related to this is their inability to see Trump and authoritarianism as a symptom of 40+ years of wage stagnation and working class alienation. We saw how far making fun of Trump got them last time around... yet they're still at it

And you're going to oppose it in a time place and manner of your choosing. Few years down the line, maybe

He hasn't shaken his fists yet though. That means he's really worked up!

You nailed it brother. As we speak

THIS ^ absolutely. Localism is part of the answer, and then a confederation of local groups
comment in response to post
Politics yes, but not electoral politics
comment in response to post
Okay, so is this your red line now? Or are you going to wait longer for a time and place of your choosing?
comment in response to post
No, remember? He's got to wait for a time and place of his choosing before he does anything.

Unfortunately she's right. We're moving past the time when electoral politics can accomplish anything. It's time for mutual aid, direct action, and building community.

You'll respond in a time, place and manner of your own choosing... Somewhere down the line

Jezus fucking Christ. This is terrible

I agree with the sentiments here that it started under Reagan, with the dismantling of the New Deal. Capitalism can't be reformed, and we're looking at now 30+ years of stagnating wages; Trump is just appealing to the anger around that.

Thank you. See my comment above.

Wrong. If these things were maintainable under capitalism, you'd be right; but they are not possible to maintain, because people with money will always dismantle these good efforts. Now is the time to dismantle capitalism. I wish you would consider that point of view.

Love this

Hmm. Well, I guess I'll believe it when I see it

Any word about a book tour? Seems like it might be a good idea to organize protests if so; given that the citizenry are so powerless, the least we can do is limit the profits from their anti-democratic and duplicitous activities. The threat of protest forced Schumer to cancel his book tour.

He shook his fists! You can tell he's really mad when he does that
comment in response to post
It's kind of like the phrase "strongly worded letter," except it involves standing on a sidewalk
comment in response to post
Shoot, he's worse than the GOP. At least we know in advance where the GOP stand. Dems like Booker are duplicitous.

Oh ffs. Is this for real?

Joking. He's a total wank

But you left out Chuck Schumer

Frustrating that we can't edit posts on Bluesky. Maybe that's why it's dying ;-)

I do think, however, that we should only use socialism in the context of revolutionary change; trying to reform capitalism and put a better human face on it will always fail, because big money will always be able to dismantle the reforms. We are seeing that dismantling in action now.

You want to be a great man? Instead of posting things about how something or other Trump is doing "needs to be stopped" and stop it yourself.
