If he cracked the code why did Trump implement the tariffs without carve outs to begin with?
comment in response to post
My impression is that coding is the low-hanging fruit because there's lots of easily available data to train on and the entire scope of coding is (for the most part) captured in the data. That's not true for many disciplines.

Now Ackman suddenly realized that Trump is economically illiterate and is begging him to pause the tariffs. You'd like to hope people coming to this realization will eventually question whether they were also duped or misled on other topics.
comment in response to post
Yeah and IMO the constant hyping of the lab leak theory played a role in Trump being reelected. For instance Bill Ackman, one of Trump's billionaire donors, wrote a post last year where he listed out the reasons he was supporting Trump and the lab leak was one of them.

Congrats Philipp. It's shocking the extent which the mainstream media has failed to investigate and understand this story. I only hope that after the chaos we're living through is over, people will start demanding a return to a more evidence-based worldview.

Ezra Klein and other NYT columnists have also fully bought into the AI hype. And their opinions then get used to justify the idea that AGI is coming soon.

This feels almost like a scam. They are not actually "de-extincting" the animals, they are creating new animals that have some genetic characteristics of the old ones. The next step will be to create chickens with no feathers and beaks and call them dinosaurs.

What do you think about the speculation this could spiral into actual war?
comment in response to post
lol, you're pathetic. Stop whining about me not wanting to go on a call with an insane person. And look at what the consequences of this kind of stupidity are. Morons like you are going to destroy the world economy.
comment in response to post
This is bad. Feels like the situation is escalating towards a bigger crisis.
comment in response to post
I don't have to do a debate with you. The topic of this thread was how proud you were to vote for Trump, the guy who's currently crashing the world economy. Maybe not such a good decision after all.
comment in response to post
Yes you have no idea in general. How's that decision to vote for Trump working out for you?
comment in response to post
And BTW I'm fully aware there are some crackpot people out there who think I'm part of the conspiracy. Maybe that's why you are so desperate to do a Zoom call with me. These people need to get a life. 😂 Why don't you tell them that?
comment in response to post
I'm not bringing up another topic, I'm showing how what you think is a "smoke-and-mirrors routine" is actually just me summarizing the current state of knowledge. Read the report above and you'll see it backs up everything I said. I didn't tell it to reach a particular conclusion.
comment in response to post
You might find this interesting...I used OpenAI Deep Research to look into this issue. The conclusion it came to is that natural origin is 85-90% likely. Leak of an engineered virus (what you and DRASTIC believe in) meanwhile it concluded is very unlikely, 1-5% chance. chatgpt.com/share/67ea31...
comment in response to post
lol..."debate me bro" What's the point of debating, so we can yell at each other over a Zoom call? If it's a good enough debate I'm open to debating but I feel like we would just be repeating what we posted in this thread.

So both of these things are possible but that's why you want to look at the evidence from the outbreak. And there's nothing that points to the lab at all, which is why you're unable to fill in any of the details. With the animal trade, we do have details and evidence. www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...
comment in response to post
I just don't think you can't figure out the origin of the pandemic from news stories and emails. Yes there were warnings about safety issues at the lab. But there's also a history of SARS viruses infecting animals in the region.
comment in response to post
I made you post a blurry screenshot? When in fall 2019, can we narrow it down to a month?
comment in response to post
So did it come from WIV or the Wuhan CDC? Or you have no idea? When did the lab leak happen?
comment in response to post
"Wuhan officials identified Huanan market as a pandemic risk at least five years before Covid emerged" Are you really that slow Mentju? www.telegraph.co.uk/global-healt...
comment in response to post
See if you can explain when the lab leak happened and how the timing and growth of the outbreak in Wuhan supports that explanation. All this other stuff is arbitrary and it's weird that you don't seem to understand that.
comment in response to post
Also I think your entire approach to figuring this out is wrong. It doesn't matter what Eddie Holmes or Kristian Andersen said if they didn't have any direct knowledge. Start with the data from the outbreak itself and work backwards from there. See if you can make a case that it points to the lab.
comment in response to post
Calling other people idiots would hit a lot harder if you weren't following and listening to deranged conspiracy theorists and voting anti-vaxers into office.
comment in response to post
You're an idiot if you think you can prove where the outbreak started this way. What you should be doing is following the evidence not picking out arbitrary things like this. I'm just pointing out that as it happened there were warnings about zoonotic spillover at that specific location.
comment in response to post
This is an actual photo of one of the stores BTW (not the one photographed by Holmes). Do you think they were following good safety procedures?
comment in response to post
Am I not supposed to point out when you say something wrong? There wasn't just a general concern about the animal trade, people warned about the animal trade at this specific market. www.telegraph.co.uk/global-healt...
comment in response to post
He says in this article they took him there as an example of a place where spillover could happen. I'm not sure what's so hard to believe about any of this. www.telegraph.co.uk/global-healt...
comment in response to post
lol...but there was a specific concern about the exact market where the outbreak later occurred at.
comment in response to post
By comparison the lab origin doesn't give you a lot to look into because it's always just been speculation. So that might tell you something about the likelihood of these two possibilities.
comment in response to post
This is probably the most detailed study they've done and it came out last year. I'm not sure why you think it's pointless...does everything in physics have an immediate practical application? www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...
comment in response to post
Just from the standpoint of history you obviously want to know how a pandemic that killed millions of people around the world began. But actually there are barely any resources being devoted to this. I'm not sure I see the downside to a small number of scientists continuing to look into it.
comment in response to post
Also when it comes to the animal trade, you might think we have a good understanding of this but we really don't. There's slightly more information about the origin of SARS-CoV-1 since they identified the virus in animals but it's still a mystery exactly what happened.
comment in response to post
There's actually never been an accidental lab leak that started a pandemic before that we know of. Past lab leaks only involved a small number of people and it was never of an engineered virus. So the scenario people are imagining happened would be completely unprecedented.
comment in response to post
Calm down...of course I acknowledge there were warnings like that. But there were also warnings about the animal trade! And that's where the outbreak actually was.
comment in response to post
Do you still think there are 40k wet markets in China that sell live wildlife? I've asked this a few times.
comment in response to post
If they are using Signal regularly to share classified information, it seems like there's actually a much bigger story here for journalists to look into.
comment in response to post
So why did they take the database down in September if it didn't leak from the lab in September? You're saying that's unrelated to the timing of the actual outbreak?
