The White House is demanding that ICE get deportations up, and ordering any career law enforcement who objects to get the hell out of the way. The head of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal operations apparently resigned rather than obey an order to fire ICE officers who weren’t hitting arrest quotas!

I get that 'offscale high' readings are a fact of instrumentation, but yeah, like geiger counters at Chernobyl this seems like a situation where they need to fix the scale.

I think the ability of the government to nationalise companies vital to defense was removed in 2008 or so. So we may need to, but I don’t think we can without new legislation.
