Wow, your original art is clean as hell. The colouring process is definitely not holding up as well, it would be fun to see them re-coloured in a modern style.
The "fish eye lens inside the fridge" view really deserves an extra layer of polish!

Out of everything you've ever posted I think this one made me go "what in the hell?" the hardest yet.

I just defragmented a drive yesterday after moving 4 TB of stuff off it! Alas, there's no satisfying block display anymore.
Instead, let me present my coworker's horrifying laptop boot drive from about ten years ago. Can you guess why it took eight minutes to go from login to desktop?

It's SO satisfying how the background lines connect between the two camera angles.

Disney is so risk-averse. They're the lukewarm oatmeal of TV/movie culture. Occasionally someone convinces them to make a thing that's a bit risky and they can be amazing, but then they go back to their old ways, all the while raking in mountains of cash. It's depressing.

Yeah, I don't use it for DOING my work, but holy crap is it useful for parsing "what the hell is this thing and why did I write it?" or "what does this incredibly dense man page actually say in normal human words"

I am a cis het man and Tom Holland's performance on Lip Sync Battle unironically kicks ass. I'm still jealous. 😄

as far as I'm aware it started as a South Park reference. S10E06 "ManBearPig" from April 2006. This was their take on "An Inconvenient Truth".

To heck with the Charter, I'd start off that reply with "we don't want to".

Costco has a great deal on the Oral-B electric toothbrushes. They're basically 2-for-1 vs how much they cost everywhere else. I upgraded to one with a pressure sensor (turns red when too much pressure) because I was brushing way too light and didn't know where too hard even was.

CBC is reporting that the only party that would really lose seats with ranked voting would be the conservatives - Green, NDP, and the liberals would all benefit. If all that's required for electoral reform is a majority, it would be easy to get the liberals, NDP, and Green together for this.

Hey! I live in Alberta!
We can just send all of the blue voters to Texas where they want to be from anyway

Maybe this time around the Liberals will actually have reason to implement the election reforms Trudeau ran on. Or maybe hell will freeze over.
I'd love to have a ranked-choice ballot so I can actually specify Green party as my preference in Alberta where their chance of winning is basically zero.

Strategic voting sucks. We need ballot reform. Ranked ballots would make this a lot less terrible.

I kind of assumed it was because otherwise averaging a percentage makes no fucking sense

Excellent job. I love it when a project just comes together perfectly like that.

I wonder if they could prevent scalping Canadian stock by raising the price to be equivalent to the USD price but then offering a "only valid in Canada for digital purchases" coupon code (account credit) of the value of the price increase, making it utterly unappealing to bring to the USA.

This is why I like my Internet connected washer/dryer. I get notified when the cycle ends and then it yells at me 15 minutes later if it still hasn't been emptied. I don't forget laundry any more.

Heating a set volume of air to a temperature takes a fixed amount of energy. If it takes (say) 2000 watts times 15 minutes or 1000 watts times 30 minutes you're still using 500 Watt-hours, but one is twice as annoying to wait for...
comment in response to
post
Possibly less total energy because it's spending less total time at the higher temperature (assuming baking takes the same time later), leading to less total thermal losses from the temperature differential. Although I will admit it's probably a pretty negligible difference.

$5000 doesn't go very far even for gas vehicles nowadays - you're talking clapped-out 15+ year old Nissan Altimas, 20 year old Honda Civics... the Nissan Leaf is basically the only EV that's even in this age bracket, and there are tons in the sub $7k range in the USA.

Yes, the number of people who conflate kWh (dimensionally equivalent to joules) and W drives me insane. It's like mixing up speed and distance! "How far do you drive to work?" "43 km/h!"

CBC released a video recently with a bunch of songs that are totally normal pop songs for us but weird and unknown south of the border. Pretty fun: www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5uZ...
(Also, Dan Mangan rules.)

I went to a local appliance store to look at the LG washcombo heat pump unit and the woman practically tripped over her words trying to yell at us that it was horrible and not to buy it.
I bought it from Costco and my wife and I have been perfectly happy with it for like six months now.

Speaking of ADHD, the text overlaid on this video makes it reeeeeeeeeeaaally hard for my ADHD brain to pay attention. "Oooh, flashing words! What was he saying? Shit, start over..."

At risk of deflecting from the TB message - CBC is in existential danger the way many US gov't services are right now. A leading right-wing candidate going into the federal election wants to 100% defund the English CBC programming - this CAN NOT happen.

Yeah, me too. I'll see the home page and jump to things I'm interested in from my subs right away, but if that algorithmic page didn't exist I'd still go through my subs to find it. Needs the improvements suggested in the video though, I hate Shorts that are just reposted chunks of videos I've seen.

I get this same feeling all the time. Electric cars, games, new computer hardware... I have a list of things I don't share online - inevitably someone will barge in & go "WELL ACTUALLY" or "durr that's stupid" so I have to frame any discussions with "I don't mean the politics"

My mom made them once in like 1992. It was too much of a disaster with me and my sister being single-digit years old and she never tried again.
