That sounds like it has potential military application, sounds very interesting 😂

Ohhhh yeah this, I had a play around with this a while ago, but sort of forgot about it - might give it a go for this Obsidian idea, thanks!

Be nice if there was some bold leadership from the American side

OpenAI, never got particularly far with self-hosting/rolling my own LLM implementation. Something I need to dig into more. I really want a local running LLM for my Obsidian notes

Yeah I totally get it. Honestly, the joke was just about there being fibre optic cabling in a birds nest. I wouldn't make jokes about the broader issue of what Russia's done in and to Ukraine, including the environmental disaster's they've caused. I totally get your reaction

A characteristically stupid thing to do

Do you not think I think it's a tragedy because I made a flippant joke about it? We deal with things in different ways, sometimes, when something's heart-breaking, I make a joke about it to make it more bearable to think about, that's just how I am, I'm sorry to say.

Yep, if only MAGA woke up to that 🙄

Good, but not quite enough. Need to see large parts of it submerged, ideally

It went pretty much as I thought it might, no substantive progress towards stopping the conflict, because Russia rejected virtually all of those proposals. It's going to be even more frustrating when the U.S. does nothing in response.

Keith Kellogg should dismiss the "NATO expansionism concerns valid" myth, and compare track records. NATO’s actions are sometimes controversial, yes - but Russia’s invasions are frequent, imperial, and bloody.

🧾 Summary: NATO: ~4 actions, mostly UN-backed or defensive Russia: 8+ aggressive invasions, often expansionist Civilian toll much higher under Russian campaigns (e.g., Ukraine, Chechnya)

🔴 Countries Russia/USSR has attacked: Hungary (1956) Czechoslovakia (1968) Afghanistan (1979-89) Georgia (2008) Ukraine (2014-now) Moldova (1992-now, via Transnistria) Syria (2015–now) Chechnya (1994-2009, internal but brutal)

🔵 Countries NATO has attacked (as NATO): Bosnia (1994–95) - airstrikes during war Serbia (1999) - bombing to stop ethnic cleansing in Kosovo Afghanistan (2001–2021) - post-9/11, UN-backed Libya (2011) - no-fly zone, UN-backed That’s it.

Yeah it's astonishingly good for portraits, but I don't do them a whole lot, so have had to get a more versatile lens

But, it's £1000 less, and I already have the 50mm F1.4 GM, which is incredible for low-light anyway
comment in response to post
If money was no issue, probably 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II. Variable length, exceptional for low-light, good for almost anything. But, I've just bought the 24-105mm f/4 G OSS, which is similar, but not as good with lower light.

Why I think there's a Sleep Token link 1. Masks/anon/gimmick 2. Same management co (Future) 3. Same production company, website/merch etc (Allotment) 4. Playing same Download as ST headlining 5. Similar cryptic marketing

Why I'm convinced it's Charlie: 1. Sounds like him 2. Fightstar have listed The Cure, Deftones, and several metalcore and Post Rock bands as influences. PRESIDENT follows: The Cure, Deftones, Mogwai, and Underoath on certain socials 3. Instantly gets on the Download bill...

I actually had ear ache in my right ear for a couple of hours last night. There's no warning either, it doesn't get louder as you get closer, it's directional, so as soon as you walk in front of it, it's 0-100%. If it wasn't an elderly persons house, I'd fucking smash it to pieces.

Happy birthday, Maks. Over the years, I've settled on a tiny handful of people for Ukraine related news. You're one of about 5 people I check in on daily. Thank you so much for all you do. You're truly awesome!

I've never managed to catch them! So this'll be an experience!

That's a different point to the point I was making. My point was, even if we had exclusive fishing rights, we still need a large market in which to sell them

Wasn't one of their big complaints that the Russian language was supposedly being 'suppressed', now the Ukrainians are 'stealing' their language when they reluctantly use it? Pick a fucking struggle ffs

It's incomprehensibly dismal. I don't know if Trump has corrupt relations with Russia (probably), or is just really stupid, narcissistic / wants the approval of 'strong men'. It could entirely be both, of course. But it's perplexing and makes me lose faith in America that they elected this guy again
