He's a big Vikings fan, and i was lead to believe he has MN property. No idea what he'd be doing this far north tho. I worked with a Lane Gangl at the time, and he just about lost his mind.

It looks positively monstrous haha. If i were more intimately familiar with that era, I'd be inclined to scoop it up. I skipped over that 3 album run in my formative years for the reasons most do. But at least I grew out of that, unlike this goober lol. Gave him a chance, but had to block.

Lol yea, we wouldn't wanna be caught being cringe, would we?

They just posted it on IG. They're doing a huuuge deluxe reissue of Load, including "never before seen photos." I wouldn't use "pathetic," but they certainly were having an identity crisis.

"We turn silence into story." No, you scraped decades of real music and images into a chewed up simulacrum of art, you absolute hack frauds.

Great write up, I felt a lot of similar sentiments through various relistens.

Kristin's tell-all was soul crushing. That dude is a true monster. This album (and their discog i suppose) are all unfortunate collateral damage. I very nearly got a The Reason They Hate Me tattoo back then π¬ I hope she finds some peace in her post-Lingua-Ignota era.

They really left punk largely in the rear view and leant way too hard into a vibe that isn't really their expertise. I enjoy a 7 minute long song, but a lot of these were just 3 minute songs w 4 minutes of vibey padding. Left really disappointed.

Lol true, Maddie and I are both MN based, so we may be more 50/50 with the four panel long sleeve vibe.

I'm into the idea, I'd just like to get the nice traps and biceps you're working with there πͺ

Same here. Then they are relegated to chores/gym/sports clothes almost exclusively.

Are there any other complaints save for free roam and the soundtrack? I haven't seen any 3+4 release stuff, but i remember enjoying 1+2 well enough, and that also had a soundtrack built off of the OG.

I think they're maligned cuz 1) popularity, and 2) their "gimmick" is offputting to certain self-serious people. They've always been sort of a guilty pleasure for me for those reasons. What can I say, I like fun songs with fat riffs.

Found them promoting a show on the Minnesota subreddit of all places haha. Guess they've played with Maul who are also a killer Fargo band. Those Dakotans are eating there for sure.

Which is an entirely valid goal, esp when youve been grinding out punk tours for 15 years. But ymmv as to whether the result is something you'd want to have in your shuffle/playlist. Idk, im trying to be open minded and sit with it, but i can't shake the vibe that its lacking that "glow" as it were.

It's an intentional choice according to the singer. He acknowledged that people don't have the patience to hear 7 minute songs, but he was interested in in the dynamic of the two vibes, and wanted to question "who do i need to keep moving?" The goal was to "embrace the moments of stillness."
