I’m not nearly as interesting as I pretend to be online. Will post about books / games / UX stuff / stupid day to day shit that no one cares about.

WTF my dudes.

Americans: If you have the space, expand your reading beyond Project 2025 and read up on The Butterfly Revolution. There are two forces at play: Evangelical Extremism, yes, but also tech-bro post-capitalist autocracy. The collapsing of the system is the goal, not a side effect.

Divide the work and divide the care, organize, take turns fighting, take care of your (internet) neighbors. Avoid the Bad Places (X, Meta). Find joy not because of what’s going on, but in spite of it. They will flood your senses with news and executive orders. Resist. Resist. Resist.

Ah, the old adage “it rhymes, so it’s true”.

Helaas zelf ook nog niet zoveel tegengekomen, blijft toch moeilijk om organisch mensen op bsky te vinden, vind ik.

“Gaming the algorithm” is exactly right. I have had so many discussions in prev jobs that adding keyword addled copy everywhere that no one will read is not the answer to making the platform better. Wrong focus. Frustrating too.

Understandable! I like the sector I work in so it’s fun to engage with likeminded professionals, but for myself I’m most of all kinda paranoid because I am Just A Person and I don’t speak for a brand, ya know?

The way I did it: Stormlight 1+2, Edgedancer, Warbreaker, Stormlight 3, Dawnshard, Stormlight 4. I am happy with my choices. I did feel that WB enhanced my experience! But my husband never read Warbreaker and he’s still obsessed with Stormlight Archive so, it’s not that important overall.

I don’t enjoy cooking that much when I’m alone, but my husband is out for dinner and instead of doing Girl Dinner I actually cooked! Very pleased with myself.

NO WAY! I started my new save yesterday and I totally didn’t know this either! Such bad luck :(

LOVE Warbreaker, but found Elantris really hard to get into, put it away one day and didn’t pick it back up. Worth trying again, you think?

Hard agree — and while we’re at it: can we also not port the worst of LinkedIn over? I follow a workfield-related feed and I’ve already seen many threads rife with emojis and lukewarm and baity takes. “⚡️10 Tips For Using AI To Stop Coding FOREVER - FOLLOW for more AI TIPS”

In any normal climate: no. With Trump and his previous strong words about NATO: no way to say. But probably not? Most importantly, the ICC warrant is symbolic/condemning at most. Both Israel and US have not ratified the agreement, bear no responsibility to the court. ICC will not hunt N. down…

Totally agree. If I were to devise a metric on it, it would be related to process and continuous improvement. Being 100% compliant feels impossible, the success is in working towards the ideal. For now, at least. But regulation on a govt level is a different story. I’m curious to see where it goes.

The sheer size of WCAG, the danger of just using it as a checklist. When NOT to implement a WCAG standard. Unclear legal regulation (EU). Unclear when you hit compliance. I don’t think WCAG is binary (done or not), but then what is it? How do you quantify accessibility?

Just started a New Game save of Dave the Diver. This game has had its claws in me earlier this year, and I’m ready to dive (sorry) back in.

So they actually reference this in the Imagineering doc series on Disney+, you cannot keep these parks running on nostalgia alone. Walt apparently was big on always improving and using cutting edge tech, and that is what they have used as argument to retire some classics in favor of new IP.

Hard agree! I am hoping it will stay this way for as long as possible. Here’s the crux: what happens when bsky inevitably needs to monetize? I will savor not seeing ads and giving up personal data to drive said ads for as long as I can.

Good tip! Though I don’t want to filter out any discussion on AI, just the bots. I think I will block individual accounts and hope bsky algo gets the message after a while.

“We’re next” is the telling part here. There is a reason the US never ratified the ICC agreement, and it’s because they do not want to be held accountable for starting countless “freedom operations”. In fact, they have vowed to “Invade The Hague” if any American official/military is held by ICC…

Big fan of both Poppy War and Stormlight! A tip for Way of Kings — I actually found it painfully slow to start with, but it reaaaally pays off. Hope you enjoy it!!

Hi John! Is there a way to get signed edition pre-orders in Europe? Specifically the Netherlands?

Extremely fair. I have the advantage of having an audiobook husband who also loves Stormlight so he will be even more detached from reality than me. I look forward to tangentially existing in the same space.
