Top freelancing tip: don't have 4 year long projects wrapping up over the same 2 week period

The past few months have been a pleasure recording, editing and sound designing this brilliant new show for RTÉjr. Written and produced by the great @fancyvegaspro.bsky.social, it is a show about a team of four scientist kids traversing the galaxy, one adventure at a time! www.rte.ie/radio/podcas...

**HERE IS THE TRAILER FOR GALAXY FEST** This is all very exciting. Hope you enjoy! Please do spread the word. I'll be on Oliver Callan's show in the morning to discuss all things Galaxy Fest, as well as my comedy workshops. www.rte.ie/radio/podcas...

I worked a job focused on training youth workers years back, it was funded by Google. It was good work, met lovey people, & honed my facilitation style with the young folk. But I never shook the feeling of "but WHY are Google funding all of this?" Cause it certainly isn't for altruistic reasons!

Thanks for all the lovely responses! It's taken an unbelievable team to put this all together. @iandunphy.bsky.social on all things sound, this is a kid's show with a big juicy soundscape Nicky Coghlan of RTE Jr guiding us through the process @eimhinmcnamara.bsky.social with the incredible artwork

Just to hammer home the power of the premise of Speed, I told my 5 year old the basic bomb on a bus set up, and he's been asking me questions about it non-stop for 3 days.

Finished up my year of arts council funded comedy workshops in Stanhope Street Primary School yesterday. A properly gas bunch of comedy heroes. Their favourite bit was watching Buster Keaton clips, so you know they're cool.

Two dads are on a mission to make it easier for Dubliners to open up city streets for kids to play on. Over the years, the idea’s got support from councillors, TDs, a Minister for Transport – but there’s still no simple, official way to do it in the city. www.dublininquirer.c...

He's right, they'll also be paying more for rent in the short and long term

*me seeing a guy called Zach Bryan is playing 3 nights in the park this weekend* "I've never even heard of him, I'm so old!" *me reading he's an American country singer* "Ah ok I'm not that old"

Israel banked on loads of world leaders forgetting about the genocide cause they decided to start bombing a different neighbouring country, and it has completely worked.

I've written an article laying out my arguments for an extension of Ireland's Basic Income for the Arts. It crosses some of topics I've covered in other blogs, but I wanted to cover all these points in a single piece. oisinmcgann.com?p=5733&previ... #BasicIncomeForTheArts #UniversalBasicIncome

I have written and produced a children's sci-fi radio series called "Galaxy Fest" for RTE Jr, starring a cast of kids I came across through my various school workshops, and I couldn't be more excited to share it with the world over the coming days & weeks. Think Futurama for kids, but on the radio.

"These are the same people who will say they are afraid of Dublin’s O’Connell St in the daytime, mocking those who stand up to oppression or genocide."

I'm reminded of the line in the South Park movie where Kyle's mom says "horrific, deplorable violence is okay, as long as people don't say any naughty words!"

Yep, this very short scene was my nightmare fuel for years, and I didn't even know what film it was from till I older

Reading this at the minute and loving it

Never has this quote been more appropriate

You can see the legacy of the famine in so many ways around Ireland. In our people, in our culture, in our infrastructure, in the fact the population declined so much Paul Reid is the only man available for any job

Nice freudian slip from Sharon Ní Bheoláin there on the 9 o'clock news, referring to the the homelessness crisis as "the hopelessness crisis"

Before you get angry at this, important to remember there are only about 8 people living in Ireland

See you all later for a good aul natter and chin wag!

Not sure the song but Ed Sheeran has one with a line "on cold days cold plays out like the band's name"

Getting serious "Pope visits Ireland in 2018" vibes from the Trump parade photos (derogatory)

Incredible to be trotting out the line "this topic affects me personally as I have lived experience of not being aborted"

As I was saying... "This isn't a u-turn, it's an upside down lower case n-turn!"

You can blame online misinformation all you want, but as long as you have a justice minister boasting about deportations, and far right groups are setting up stall outside schools to harass foreign students and parents to little pushback, no misinformation is needed for the racists to do their thing

Simon Harris vowing to get young people talking and laughing again. As well as the complete misdiagnosis of the issue, the ego in think they can be the ones to get young people talking & laughing "again" I work in schools, the young talk and laugh loads, & are rarely on their phones during class!

Can I just go on the record and say if I ever die due to swallowing a bee while playing polo, you have my permission to crack jokes at my expense
