The ban of any type of business in suburban neighborhoods is a major reason why they’re so car dependent

Currently being built in Bothell. If you change design standards to move the bike lane on the other side of the curb and planter strip you can create a better, safer experience for all modes with the same amount of right of way. Boy it's fun to see things get built.

Instead of adding significant study and work to an already-overburdened planning department, Bellevue could follow *checks notes* Lynnwood and just pass state parking reform. No delay, no study, no outreach. You legally have to do it anyway - why not do it fast when you're in a housing crisis?

The Lynnwood City Council just voted 7-0 to adopt a new unified development code, officially tossing out 11 separate tables dictating parking mandates in favor of the new standards laid out in Senate Bill 5184. They didn't fully ditch mandates, but this is a huge change, 3 years ahead of schedule.

Love how Zohran & Brad are running for Prez & VP of NYC!

this used to be the home of alex jones productions and now it is a place where dogs go to learn manners, in case you're worried that progress isn't possible

Great hearing @lex.vaughn.theneedling.com on @kuow.org Week In Review! I like how they book one sane voice, max.

Some thoughts about the military parade in my hometown of Washington DC today -- specifically, the route. Military parades in DC are quite rare. But when they happen, they have always begun, symbolically and geographically, at the Capitol and moved outward. 1/

Meanwhile at the military parade after a political assassination: Impeachment is the moderate option.

No Kings in Seattle! Beautiful! #seattle #nokings

i'm surprised by how low energy and farcical that whole military parade situation was. I was expecting Moscow 1945 and we got Spirit Halloween instead.

SMITE!!!

Watch for our endorsements next month. Our elections committee team clocked a ton of hours this weekend to make them happen.

AOC: “The girls are fighting, aren’t they?”

Just look at this lineup of villains😂

This is a persistent problem. Is anyone tracking which companies go over their bids?

“The religious group…occupied the space behind the barricade and blocked exits with their private security, backed up by Seattle police officers, controlling the flow of people allowed onto the steps of City Hall.”

Please don't put in the newspaper that 28 children laughed at me

Hot take: we think it’s actually perfect that Trump will be flying around in a constant reminder of his brazen, unparalleled, indefensible corruption. Our suggestion for a name: Swamp Force One ✈️

Workers who track data on car crashes, drownings, traumatic brain injury, falls in the elderly, and other perils lost their jobs. Advocates worry life-saving work will stop.

NEW from me: A whistleblower says DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data...and then someone posted a threatening letter to his door. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...

Island County, WA: I'm not sure I understand this. Lotsa "Whereas"-es about solutions to the #housing crisis... leading to declaring a crisis and a 1-year (or+) Development Moratorium... on some of the stuff that would help the *first* crisis?!? www.islandcountywa.gov/207/Planning...

A reminder that there is no human being in the United States whom it would be legal to disappear to a Salvadoran prison without due process of law.

All 27 scientists at this CDC lab were told their duties were "unnecessary," and now viral outbreak investigations have been halted.

Illegal attempts to access IRS data was an article of impeachment against Nixon.

I've known this my whole life, but it is so important right now: Read books. Reading books is the greatest thing you can do for your brain. Gets rid of the noise, makes you think differently, recreationally passes time without the depressing feeling of "where did the time go." BOOKS.

Courage. We need more of this.

A bunch of folks showed up to the Bothell City Council tonight to speak against a potential resolution affirming Bothell as a welcoming place for LGBTQIA+ people. Here was Bothell Mayor Mason Thompson's response.

Sending anyone from this country to a foreign gulag, particularly without a court hearing, should rightfully end a presidency. Full stop.

the guys who crash the economy every time promising to not crash the economy this time

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die. Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.
