Fear not! I’ve spoken to Levine: he’s half way through writing the song, the recording studio is on standby & the photographer from The Guardian is coming round on Tuesday. We’ll have this licked in no time…!!!

Sadly it’s all just told with no sets or supporting characters, so swings & roundabouts really….

I have no beef with “Young Si”, just the one that’s been watching Doctor Who longer than I’ve been alive
(And has regretted making that statement ever since he did…!)

If you can watch that ending & not feel warm & fuzzy in all the right places when the camera pulls back, then I feel very sorry for you.

Can only assume it’s the sort of person totally new to podcasting, who wants to make some name for themselves in fandom by randomly spouting the most batshit, absurd things they can….

Magic. Pure magic.
The not guiltiest of not guiltys.
I mean, what knacker would try to condemn the story that has the phrase “Chap with the wings, 5 rounds rapid” in it…?

Once you get to the end & realise that Azal shits himself to death cos he can’t get his head round Jo being willing to sacrifice herself for such a colossal arsehole (©️ @quiteamess.bsky.social) then the ending makes perfect sense. And what an ending: the Brig’s off for a long while everyone dances.

Not least Miss Hawthorne & her reticule (something akin to Thor’s hammer Mjölnir) girl bossing every scene she’s in, The Master dressed as the Vicar of Dibbley, Benton in his civvies going all Jack Reacher, the whole BBC3 opening episode… The list is pretty endless.

To start with, it’s the quintessential Who folk horror; the ultimate spring story, perfect for May Day & beyond. It has everything you want from a Pertwee story - UNIT, The Master, Jo being steadfast while The Doctor is a dick - that isn’t bettered elsewhere. There’s so much to love:

There are some stories that are thought of as classics, where you really struggle to see why: the characters aren’t pleasant, the plot plods, the acting is hammier than Jon Hamm’s ham sandwich & the effects are utter bobbins.
This, of course, isn’t one of those.
It’s a fucking banger.

Technically, yes - we put him in stasis after he tried to smuggle a cat onboard, and, well, the rest just writes itself….
