~Spirituality, somewhat vaguely defined, in which I group astrology, religion, woo, tarot, faith, etc is the big major part of the fabric of society which I genuinely feel like part of a different species. My theory of mind just doesn’t work, feels alien to me.

The qt rage is hilarious for something so innocuous but idk if I buy the idea that video game consumers are extracting rents from video game companies.

Look at my leftists dawg

Lol is that homoskedastic data? How did that not raise an eyebrow? (Maybe he’s didn’t use OLS and used some other estimation method where it doesn’t matter?)

Pretty insane how much out of the three big macro aggregates, (inflation, unemployment and growth), macroeconomics has been so much more successful understanding the causes and mitigators of the first two, yet they’re also by some distance less important than growth.

My take is that the “bizarre likeability forcefield” is really just being funny + being well… bizarre. Makes it hard to take evil stuff seriously if done in a goofy way.

Quite a unique political figure. Wasn’t really much of a fun, but can’t deny he was an inspiring figure in many ways. One of the few who walked the walk when he railed against consumerism. I think that consistency drew people to him

Just regressing quantity on price doesn’t give you accurate estimates of the price elasticity of demand because of simultaneity, but I wonder if it might not work well enough for rental markets where rent is mostly determined by land value. Supply is fixed beforehand so you don’t have that problem

Speaking from total ignorance here, but what prevents Kashmir becoming an independent buffer state a la Belgium or Uruguay from acting as a solution to the conflict?

I see Sargent’s macro book with Ljungqvust (Recursive Macroeconomic Theory) in graduate syllabus all the time, yet never his macro book with Hansen (Robustness). Any idea why?

I try to do this but there are limits to what you can do when explicit feminism will just get you called a male feminist or a simp or some other gender equivalent to scab

No it can’t. As long as what you’re trying to optimize is human welfare, then until we get mind reading tech there’s no improving upon the market outcome for the vast majority of transactions. Other mechanisms fail the incentive compatibility restriction, so you can’t access people’s preferences

Eh. The part about banning multi player gaming would work, but “teach college football” would backfire spectactularly. If you want to make men less misogynist you need to find ways to obstruct male only socialization. School sports are one of the major areas where this occurs.
