It says a lot about where we’re at in this country that a beloved voice actor was murdered by his homophobic neighbor and every headline is still running passive defense for his killer, doing everything not to call this hate crime what it was. These are scary times. RIP to Jonathan Joss.

On Sunday, my friend, Jonathan Joss was murdered and it took me a minute to find the words... Like so many of our lives, Jonathan's existed at the powerful intersections of Indigeneity, queerness, visibility, and vulnerability. He was fierce, funny, flawed, and real in every way that mattered.

Turns out voters like people who fight to defend democracy.

They're literally doing the meme

I worry that not enough of a big deal is being made about how long-term the devastation of these budget cuts to our scientific and health agencies will be, beyond the absolute ruin they will cause in the acute period.

Ron DeSantis stranded drivers at a bridge with no warning just to stop rainbow colors from appearing on it.

Every day that this horror continues, I think of Omar El Akkad's tweet: "One day, when it’s safe, when there’s no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it’s too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this."

I want my enemies to have less power and for us to have more. Part of that involves people who have supported bad leaders and ideas changing their minds. We don't have to be anyone's friend or forgive people, but off-ramps must exist. I think that's pretty basic.

Can we all agree that presidents shouldn’t have the power to pardon people convicted of crimes that involve… 1) Violence 2) Harm to children 3) Large sums of money Asking for both parties

If this whole “lol there won’t be free and fair elections in ‘26/‘28” edgelord talking point isn’t immediately followed by a plan to ensure that there are free and fair elections, it’s just surrendering in advance.

Remembering Chevalière d'Éon for Pride. A transgender woman in the 1700s who was also a spy and who turned double agent, extorted an entire monarchy to get her gender marker changed, and lived her life as a woman in a time when such was thought impossible. We have always been here.

ICE officer names and faces should be public knowledge.

Never has any leader had so many people wanting to make the argument that “not wearing any clothes actually makes the emperor better dressed if you think about it.”

When the heart breaks: why the world must not look away from Iran’s silent crisis As Iranians face soaring poverty and a surge in executions, the regime clings to power through fear – while the world watches in silence Dr Ela Zabihi @yorkshirebylines.co.uk

Under the current US administration, every vaccine is at risk, from measles, to flu & Covid, to HIV vaccine under development Massive setback for the health of Americans & the world at large

This was my first question and it’s wild that democrats aren’t prepared to pounce on these fuck ups She literally made their campaign ad for them

"Brooke Nichols, an associate professor of global health at Boston University, has estimated that these cuts have already resulted in about 300,000 deaths, most of them of children, and will most likely lead to significantly more by the end of the year." #DOGE www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

NEW: In the wake of ballot measures that increased abortion access and improved sick leave for workers, a coordinated effort is unfolding across the country to restrict direct democracy — and shift power to partisan legislatures.

Breaking news: Contradicting HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the CDC continues to recommend the coronavirus vaccines for healthy children, according to new documentation posted to the agency's website.

The Catholic Church is threatening to excommunicate priests who follow a new WA law requiring them to report child abuse confessions—yet it rarely excommunicates priests who commit abuse. Protecting predators over children is indefensible. www.newsweek.com/catholic-chu...

unions: they get the job done

In what is shaping up to be a huge day for democracy in the lower federal courts, at least, Judge Chutkan rules that the case against DOGE can proceed.

We are parents, teachers, healthcare workers, educators, students, faith leaders, community members and taxpayers. We remember the Palestinians killed in Gaza with our tax dollars and say #StopArmingIsrael #StopStarvingGaza #FundCareNotGenocide Join us: www.youtube.com/@TheyAllHave...

”College isn’t for everyone.“ Yeah, trade school isn’t for everyone either.

been saying this for like 3 years now, the core constituency of the "manosphere" is not Gen Z or teenage boys, it is 35-55 year old dudes who wish they were still teenage boys

This is—it bears repeating—ethnic cleansing and a war crime. It feels utterly pointless to say, and roughly equivalent to screaming into the void, but the United States should not be supporting or providing any aid to a state that has ethnic cleansing as a policy position.

Fun fact: Democratic women make up only 22% of the House of Representatives, but have submitted 52% of the 537 amendments to this heartless reconciliation package. We’re almost 20 hours into this rules debate and still bringing the heat 🔥 and the heart ❤️ to this fight!

So you’re telling us the radical transparency people are against… transparency? www.politico.com/news/2025/05...

An actual white savior would be working to save white people from themselves.

There is a false dichotomy drawn between "the ivory tower" and "the real world," and I'm here to report that in a post-industrial society, your real-world economy absolutely hinges on the university. University towns are factory towns. Universities drive economic activity, not the other way around.

There is another plantation in Louisiana, the Whitney Plantation, that has dedicated its mission to teaching about the history of slavery and those who were enslaved on its grounds. So, not a resort wedding location. In fact, wedding photography is prohibited. It just lost its federal funding.

Been trying to be kinder about men, but I don’t think it’s going to happen until they place women’s safety above their indignation.

Republicans just failed to pass their big, ugly bill that would rip food and healthcare away from people out of the Budget Committee. We won’t let up. This bill is not an inevitability. We can stop this and save lives.
