Abby Tighe was a federal servant in the division of overdose prevention at CDC. Her day-to-day job was working closely with local organizations to develop programs and initiatives for kids and teens, in order to keep them from smoking, drinking and using other drugs and substances.

If a vaccine is not on the approved childhood or adult vaccination schedule, Medicaid and Medicare will not cover it, and private insurance is not likely to cover it either. This means families with children and pregnant women who want to get a COVID-19 vaccine will have to pay out of pocket for it.
