Peyer Clines books are very good. He has a couple of series you may like: Threshold - aliens, cthulu, Lovecraft, &cults, and Ex-Heroes - superheroes vs Zombies.

You must be psychic. I just finished my umpteenth re-listen on audible and I thought "I should buy a physical copy"...and then was very disappointed.... publishing is a very weird industry. I will keep hoping for a streaming service to buy the rights!

Kamali clearly sets the scene that the women of Iran have been fighting for freedom for a long time and their rage has sustained them. This book made me cry but also gave me a deep respect for the shir zan - the Lion Women of Iran. #readingchallenge #booksky

As a government worker (not US) & as a human with a brain, this is terrifying. An unelected person has taken over government departments. I think of the information I have access to as part of my job & all the harm it could cause in the wrong hands. How is a foreigner allowed to take over like this?

Agreed, there's a reason in ancient cultures they had people who farmed & people who built/brewed/ran businesses. It takes a village. They just didn't have people trademarking the wheat & hoarding the chickens. We have enough, we just need to share it.

My building is on a corner, the original block was 100 ABC St but after it was built it became 1 XYZ St. I submitted it to google maps & they updated it fairly quickly. Delivery drivers still can't find it, but it is correct now at least

Fruiting. It isn't a viable option for one person to become self sufficient, let alone community sharing. Maybe if there was ground soil but the housing blocks are smaller & smaller & there are so many more apartments nowadays

I got some weird caterpillar bug in my balcony garden, 4 stories up. It ate through my fig, lemon, tomatoes, all the herbs, killed everything. & then I had to work out how to dispose of all the dirt & started again. It was a lot of work & took years, it's been 2yrs & my plants still aren't back to-

It was so much worse than the witches. I just kept thinking I don't see a problem, run off & live in the forest! It's better than the alternative!
comment in response to post
For that reason I didn't find the witches particularly scary, nor did I understand any of the girls aversion to joining the coven. I never understand books where people refuse to become witches. This is a sombre reminder of a shameful past, but it is very light on the horror & witchcraft #booksky

I can make you a mug! The handles might be a little wonky but they work!

It's always difficult though and Australian immigration sadly, doubly so. The wait times and costs are exorbitant

Oh I agree, rejecting ppl on medical grounds is cruel. It is easier with money (everything is), but I do know refugees who are severely disabled & have been granted asylum, so maybe there's different criteria or something for different visas, IDK.

If it's government sanctioned it's easier to prove, otherwise you need to prove even if you move you're still unsafe. I hope ppl don't need this visa but think about saving msg, taking photos, news clippings ect.

For the LGBT asylum visa ppl need to prove they're unsafe in their country. I read an appeal for a woman in a village in Nepal. The AAT determined her village was unsafe but Kathmandu was progressive, she has friends there, she'd be safe there & her family wouldn't find her (she said they wouldn't)

It seems to be less of a factor with asylum visas, we have a lot of ppl from Syria &Afghanistan who were very injured by war, they often come into Australia & go onto DSP, or older ppl who are going onto aged pension.

This sounds awful but I think it's about the ongoing costs of accepting someone with a disability, so it can depend a lot of what the disability is. I think it's more likely to be a factor with children where the condition is sometimes more of an unknown.

I think some people are unaware you're supposed to like your spouse and enjoy spending time with them, even when it's boring things like grocery shopping.

I only recently learned other people don't hear electricity & that I sound insane when I say say I can hear electricity.

My low stakes conspiracy is that we know what's under the ocean and we don't want to upset it, that's why there isn't more deep sea exploration or shows/movies about it

Charlie had a couple of teeth removed a while ago and he needs another check up. They talked about removing all his teeth which made me cry, he has the cutest little pirate teef! I think it's worse for us than it is for them (cos they don't have to pay for it!)
