But my point is these were not Shakespeare's themes, they are modern ideas that we now apply to the texts. So in terms of what he intended, technically she's right.

But they are not the themes. They are readings of the text: the themes are jealousy and power.

Well they are not the theme. They're a particular critical approach. The theme of Othello is power and jealousy, as Shakespeare wrote it.
