I tend to bounce between curls (nothing like yours, mine are 3C) and cuts/colors that kinda force straighter hair on me.
I think half the reason I do it is because I enjoy getting excited about switching to the other again.

I deal with this too. The best solution is to squash and merge, such that your commit history for the main branch looks nice no matter what your PR branch's history looks like.
