£62.5m for Mbuemo is already nuts. Absolutely bewildering.

I dont think the US realised how open to abuse and outright coup their system of governance is. Politically appointed judges in your Supreme Court dont scream independent judiciary. Nor does there now seem a very free press. The President has substantial executive powers

Konstas, Khawaja, Green cannot and surely will not be the Aussie top 3 for the Ashes. Inglis at 4 atm too. I’ve never seen a weaker Australian batting lineup. What happens to them when their 4 ageing bowlers go too.

Good listen on my pet hate

The problem is the business model of making capital gains, unearthing and developing players or buying low and selling on, doesn’t work on. A sporting level and football is a sport. If your whole league is reduced to selling then it can’t also sell itself and its broadcast rights. False economy

And next ManU apparently likely to sign Carnesecchi from Atalanta. Again not sure it’s a great use of their money at all or if it will happen but it’s still a SerieA exodus and these clubs weakening. The listed replacement options are terrible

Better late than never but Valencia is a totally different club to when this was envisaged % football has changed forever too. The vast empty skeletal cavern of the nou mestalla has stood empty for 15+ years. Worth visiting before they move unless you get vertigo www.valenciacf.com/valencia-cf-...

Homegrown players, academy graduates now exist only to generate what Italians call plusvalenza, a positive capital gain. It's perverse that FFP (which is needed) has simply meant that players are never destined to stay at their club anymore but to be fattened up and sold like cattle. Barcelona aside

And ultimately this is the real flaw in the CWC and everything FIFA and UEFA do, they’re just making the stratospheric elite richer and widening the gulf.

It’s an interesting reflection of how clubs are run that City did important transfer business for the CWC because they wanted to do well and make the vast sums the latter stages offer. The Italians who really need the money rest people for a key game and have been treating it more like a chore.

I said this long before the score took such a turn. Another grim reality check for the Italian game. Has been the lowest 2 months in their history

#Juventus need so much work. Lloyd Kelly (at fault for 3 goals) wouldn’t start for 80% of Premier League clubs. Bremer will help when back but they need lwb 2 defenders and Vlahovic has surely run out of chances. He just looks crap now

Italian football sure didn’t need the optics (which have a financial sponsorship and tv rights impact) of another thrashing but here we go. Juventus are disastrous at the back and approached the game with a contempt City didn’t

Didn’t really want to watch #Juventus v City but had nothing to do. Juventus look like they’re in preseason friendly mode v a team in top condition but it’s also the first time I’ve really thought they can no longer compete with the likes of City. Been bad sides before but it’s a different level

Reijnders is brilliant . I can’t believe Milan sold him for such a low fee. Ridiculous club

Bayern agreeing terms with Nick Woltemade is the easy part. Any player in the Bundesliga would. It doesn’t really mean anything unless they agree terms with Stuttgart. And that will likely cost significantly more than their record sale, which is €35m for Benjamin Pavard.

Looks like City and Chelsea will end up playing each other in the semi of the CWC given they way the bracket has unfolded. Which I mention as it means a lot of money for both….

Longer term Archer will be necessary and improve England but surely leave him playing County cricket a bit longer? Can't see either the rigours of a 5 day test or carrying drinks will help him. I'd have him playing the next game at Hove #cricket

Gillingham away is the most tedious and irritating cup draw imaginable #afcwimbledon

Divock Origi hasn’t even trained with Milan for a year but in that year has cost them €5.2m gross. Won’t agree a severance package. Bad decisions and running of a club absolutely but also in what other profession do you get paid for not doing your job

Man City have built themselves an incredible squad. 2 brilliant elevens. All whilst we await the outcome of the charges they've future proofed. Also a prime example of modern stockpiling. Top players, expensive players now warm a few benches rather than be spread across europe

Kerkez was scouted and signed by Paolo Maldini, who knows left backs. In typical fashion though Milan didn't give him a chance and let him go to AZ.

If Milan had kept hold of Rijnders and then signed Samuele Ricci, I'd be saying now that is a decent looking, well-balanced midfield. Let's see what else they do. Very much not convinced Xhaka or Modric are the answer to anything #transfers

Italian football losing yet another young talent and again to a club who seem to evade ffp. Ruggeri of Atalanta to Atletico Madrid. A very odd move all round IMO. accusations he had been partying too hard in Bergamo. It is though looking like a ransacking of the league this summer #transfers

Just turned on SriLankaBangladesh test #cricket. Interesting match Every four or between over the music blairs out but there's no one there. A couple of western tourists and a handful of others. This is the problem these games are played at a loss to their federations.

Always so annoying when the away fixtures you target are on Tues day evenings. Cardiff a prime example for #afcwimbledon

Not Luton first...Big tv return to League One though #afcwimbledon
