Yeah Wilf moved on just as we finally got good!

Agree. He dragged us through whole seasons!

FIFA need to pray one of the South American sides does well or it’ll only be reinforcing that if they want an international competition worh all the best teams, everyone might as well watch the Champions League.

He knows he’s going to be a loan puppet for a few years, before probably being sold on at 23 as a cash cow.

I find it remarkable that Palace continue to buy and churn through good keepers who find form and are in demand, often overlapping too: Guaita, Butland, Johnstone, Henderson, and now Benitez. Turner wasn’t good for us, but has found a move quickly to a Europa League club.
comment in response to post
Funny that I was wondering yesterday if Spurs would go for him as soon as Frank moved there!

The biggest danger is that the European teams dominate and everyone else accepts that the Champions League is already effectively the World Club Cup. Miami, Mamelodi Sundowns, Auckland and Ulsan getting beaten 5-0 in every game is not going to help the appeal.

2018: Tunisia, Panama, BELGIUM, Columbia, Sweden, BELGIUM. 2021: Croatia, Scotland, Czechia, Germany, Ukraine, Denmark, Italy. 2022: Iran, USA, Wales, Senegal, FRANCE 2024: Serbia, Denmark, Slovenia, Slovakia, Swiss, Netherlands, SPAIN. Only 3 of those were ranked above us, we lost all 4 games.

We had the easiest possible set of fixtures and probably the equal best squad in those tournaments. They were about the best chances we’ll ever have to win big tournaments based on fixtures and we didn’t win any. Not saying he was terrible, we may just never have more obvious opportunities.

I think Toney should go to the World Cup as a specialist penalty taker and 3rd impact striker unless someone else obvious (eg Delap) comes along.
comment in response to post
By next year you’d imagine the team will be something like this, might as well just start playing like that now: Pickford, Livra/Trent, Colwill, Guehi/Konsa, LMS, Rice, Jones, Saka, Jude, Rogers, Kane. Plus a couple of other obvious ones like Palmer, Watkins and Gordon.
comment in response to post
James is injury prone, Chalobah not first 11, why take Henderson? Walker isn’t going to teach him anything. Toney on after 88 mins having put a midfielder up front. Attacking mids on the wing etc. Not sure how many games he has to work it out before the World Cup but the squad won’t look like this.
comment in response to post
Very odd to pick Toney, then put a midfielder up front, then put him on after 88 mins. Not sure what he could have learned from that.

Southgate wasn’t the answer to England winning major trophies. As it stands neither is Tuchel, we will have to see how quickly he learns his lessons and sort out his selections.
comment in response to post
Terrible selection and subs again, hopefully Tuchel will learn quickly and make the necessary changes.

This is a hilarious career at City, 2 games and 12 trophies! 🤣

Good club for him to be playing regularly for too you’d imagine, Although interesting to see who they appoint if Frank goes to Spurs. Liverpool have a world class 1st keeper and a very good new backup too so not a big loss, and probably a good arrangement all round.

8 assists is crazy. And 4 were this season, putting him equal with Wissa, Vardy, Kulusevski, Martinelli, McGinn, Mitoma and Gakpo. And more than Haaland, Rashford and Solanke!

“Oh boy!”

Agree, given his season at Bournemouth and profile being in demand, he could easily have gone somewhere else as first choice. Newcastle might have considered him if the Trafford move fell through, Villa might need a keeper of Martinez moves to Saudi, and Bournemouth and West Ham both do.

I’ve dropped several hints to my wife. 😉 Plus the last mug I bought from you was an Olise one, so I need a replacement! 🤣

This is why there’s a need to have better interventions on prices this year, high prices for popular early picks to force people to choose between them, but then better price interventions for underused assets as the season goes on to encourage variation.

I expect City want to get some new players bedding in during the club World Cup so they’re already integrated before next season starts. If it seems likely that Pep will use him regularly without rotation (at least pre Champions League) he’ll be very very popular.
comment in response to post
Absolutely. If you want to try to break up templates you have to price them accordingly. I still think a bit of extra price manipulation for lowly owned assets to encourage more owners, but also force to to pick between some of the more expensive ones. I do think they’ll hike a few prices.
comment in response to post
They may be forced to occasionally play reserve players like Akanji, Doku, Savinho, and Foden. I really feel for them. 🤣

The Club World Cup may give us some clues as to how City set up next season, they seem keen to get players in quickly this week so they get a full summer and pre season with the club.

If RAN is at City, the attraction of Gvardiol as a centre back rather than LB will be massively finished if he’s higher than £5.5m.

We should arrange an FPL community get together at 1am to watch Miami vs Al Ahly 🤣
comment in response to post
🤣 It’s not exhausting, it’s just something you need to engage with regularly. I’ve missed numerous deadlines this season, but still enjoy the summer breaks. I’ll be at Glastonbury this year for example, have no interest in looking at any fantasy teams that week!
comment in response to post
I’d forgotten about the KO times! Expecting this tournament to remind people that the vast majority of the best teams are European. Some good South American sides but a European side could hammer a continental champion 5-0. FIFA will be DESPERATE, so the propaganda machine will go crazy soon.
comment in response to post
No chance, not interested in playing 14 different fantasy games, and enjoy the break over the summer.

€50m Euros is a lot of money for a 19 year old, and it wasn’t like he was an unknown quantity as he’d played 57 games across 2 seasons as a 17/18 year old for a very decent Rennes side before he joined.

The issue for Bruno is that at his age, with Utd not in Europe next year, and no clear way for Utd to strengthen a poor squad, is it worth staying? However, I suspect as a difference maker in a team in the best league in the world, he will.
comment in response to post
I’ll be there this year for the first time too, so some great tips here. Glad you asked! 🤣

About time I replaced that Olise mug I got from you, so let us know when it’s available. 🤣 Just in time for Father’s Day would be ideal. 😉

Final GW38 Summary (2/2) Thoughts: Disconnected with the game a little this year, no longer willing to engage in last minute changes and team news and missed several deadlines. Still did well in my mini leagues, and I’m ok with that, see you all next season!
comment in response to post
Good luck in the mini leagues Murph! I’ve got 16 points to make up on one of mine (and the person below me is only 6 points behind), so it’s going to be an interesting day.
comment in response to post
Of course it is. I wasn’t available last week when the Marmoush leak came out it cost me, but in the end I’m just not willing to forgo other parts of my life to be online every single deadline regardless, hopefully they’ll move the deadlines in future seasons to a bit earlier (eg 4-6 hours before).

Wood on the left, I’m sure he’d be very effective there. 🤣 Even weirder given Isak can actually play that position and is included in this 11.
